With terrific writing and art, this is an event tie-in that matters, and almost serves as a sequel to IVX. Read Full Review
X-Men Blue continues to be a juggernaut in the X-books line. It has consistently been outstanding in quality and one of the most fun x-books I have read in years. Even in a major event tie-in the book remains outstanding. This series is a must read by all x-fans and comic book fans in general. Read Full Review
The engine is finally running! This is the kind of issue first-time readers will one day look back fondly on. This is the kind of issue long-time readers will rejoice with. The strongest issue of X-Men Blue to date. Read Full Review
A distinct issue that brings our young X-Men new challenges and thrills readers in the process. Read Full Review
It's always a thrill to see an artist jump on a X-Men book and immediately nail it. Cory Smith's artwork in the latest issue of X-Men Blue is very impressive, and his characters pop off of the page. Even Jimmy Hudson is improved upon, although he really should lose the "Kid Wolverine" hair. Read Full Review
A bunch of nifty character cameos and the ensuing fight make for an enjoyable enough tie-in to Secret Empire. Read Full Review
Overall, this book was mediocre. It had some fun moments, but they were harshly undercut to the adherence to the wrong-headed story its tying into. If youre enjoying Secret Empire, youll enjoy this. If youve been following X-Men: Blue, it at least makes its own protagonists look heroic. Otherwise, you should probably give this one a pass. Read Full Review
A far better chapter in the story of the young X-Men than the last issue, however the involvement in Secret Empire left it with huge gaps that needed to be filled which was not done with very smooth transition. There may be a bit of confusion if you are not reading all pieces of the Secret Empire event, hurting the issue. The art worked very well depicting the action of the story. There are some thrilling moments and interesting characters involved. The end of the issue was disturbing for me, but I was curious to see where it would lead. I do think Blue is back on track since last issue.
Definitely some improvements over previous issues.
The Blue team is freedom fighting in a surprisingly fascistic New Tian and having a hard time of it. While I like the plot Cullen Bunn has spun out of Secret Empire and the nemesis role he's set up for Emma Frost, I'm less thrilled by his complexity-addicted love of dredging up deep cut characters and creators' pets. (Briar Raleigh? Really?) Just due to this one issue, about a dozen hero-mutants will need "we was mind-controlled" retribution once this arc is over. This story may also be over-reliant on the SE event; I can't imagine it making much sense to somebody reading just Blue alone. The nuts-and-bolts writing here is good, with a fast pace and a few solid chuckles amidst all the grimnesss. Cory Smith's art is also a positive, deliverimore
