Hunt it. Trap it. Kill it.
The Armor Hunters are the most dangerous fighters in the universe - unparalleled in their abilities to catch and destroy their prey. Their mission has been long and unforgiving...and has featured the destruction of many X-O Manowars. For the first time, we see the brutal beginnings of the Hunters...and the devastation they have vowed to combat.
The Armor Hunters aren't the real enemy, the armor is, at least that's what issue #27 of X-O MANOWAR tries to tell the reader. Regardless, this issue provides an action-packed adventure that really fleshes out the enemy of this event. Not only is everything about this story enjoyable, it's impressive. As it has been since the start, X-O MANOWAR is the top dog at Valiant when it comes to long-form story-telling in a shared universe. It's a top ten book. Read Full Review
Venditti remains consistent in his masterful handle over X-O Manowar and his characters, even with the fact that protagonist Aric of Dacia is absent in this issue. Diego Bernard's pencils paired with the book's rugged colors give a uniquely dark and grim feel to the book, allowing for gripping panels. X-O Manowar #27 is worth your dough, so be sure to pick it up this week. Read Full Review
If you ever wanted to get more info on the mysterious X-O suit you've come to the right place and it's all revealed in a very Starship Troopers kind of way. The idea that these suits are incredibly dangerous and evil is very clear after reading this. Most importantly, the villains of the Armor Hunters series are given purpose and meaning. The Armor Hunters' past proves to be as cutthroat as promised, and it's nothing but entertaining to witness. Although pretty straightforward plot-wise, the issue delivers an informative, interesting tale through excellent storytelling. Read Full Review
X-O Manowar #27 is a very enjoyable issue that continues to build an engrossing back story for the armor hunters and in doing so makes the crossover event that much more exciting, and richly complex. The origin of the armors is shown to an extent and the convincing of Reebo to jump completely into this task was believable, as was choosing him as leader. The setup is perfect to show how a squad initially eager to undertake this task can become weary after a long war and just want to get the job done. And the revelation of how an armor has to be killed makes the potential climax in the main series very interesting. And in the moment that made all the other members of the squad hesitate, any doubts I had about this series ending strong were erased. Read Full Review
My only minor gripe with this issue is that it is the second to not have Aric. We get an X-O armor, but I do miss the Visigoth leader and all his blunt charms. Needless to say, this whole series in this book and the other Valiant selections has been one of the best-orchestrated story arcs in comics in quite some time. The details and plot development has yet to fail in any way. Now I am impatient to know what will happen, but I just don't want this story to end. Read Full Review
From day one, X-O Manowar has been something special. Its something hard to describe, but its seemingly got a little bit of everything for everybody; warriors, space, alien race, sci-fi, heart, death, humor and more. If its been said once, its been said in every review for this event and series: you need to be buying X-O Manowar its an absolute must if you love comics. Venditti, Bernard and Reber can do no wrong and lately, it seems, neither can Valiant. Read Full Review
XO Manowar is another solid entry into this series from Valiant, what I thought could have just been a filler issue provides a really interesting narrative and a great one and done story that fills in the background of these mysterious hunters that have come seeking Aric's armor. Read Full Review
Very great issu!
Neat backstory for the antagonists.
No Aric=no problem
I have very little interest in exploring the Armor Hunter history. It's feels odd to read it in the X-O Manowar issues, if you are not picking up Armor Hunters then you are really wasting your time here. That being said, the story here is still well told and at least offers some interesting insights.
