This comic is more than a true-crime adaptation, it's a historical fantasy that takes real horror and amplifies it with folklore, psychological terror, and artistic interpretation. And that's where it succeeds: not just shocking you, but making you feel the dread of being trapped in a world where adults hide far worse secrets than monsters under the bed. Picked this up mostly out of curiosity after learning it’s written by Michael Chaves (The Nun II director)… and it ended up surprising me. Set in a dark, war-torn medieval world, the story follows a young girl whose father returns from the dead, but this isn’t just a horror setup. What really stands out is the emotional core. The father/daughter dynamic carries the issue, and there are moments that genuinely land. You feel the sadness, the tension, even the anger. The art is a big highlight too. gritty, atmospheric, and sometimes uncomfortable in a way that fits the tone perfectly. It really pulls you into the world. The pacing feels very cinematic, taking its time to let moments breathe, which worked well for me. Overall, a strong first issue that leans more into emotion and tone than action . And I’m definitely in for the full 6-issue run.

I Enjoyed this issue. The story gave me a vibe of Kill Bill mixed with BloodSports. i felt it was action packed which made a lot easier to read. Easier as in faster. It has a good start and definitely finishes with me wanting to read the next one
