This series is the Power Rangers treated like real people, and that's my kind of comic. They had enough goofy, campy, kid stuff in the original TV show. If you're going to even have a comic like this, I am glad Higgins and BOOM! are taking it seriously. And it's not like this is some grim and gritty reboot. Dragon DaggersHiggins and company take us deeper inside the Power Rangers as human beings all while crafting a fantastic story. The improved characters, continually escalating conflict, and proper use of the giant robots allows the comic to grow and shine in ways that the show never could. The action does things that suit actors never did, there's more depth to the team both as individuals and as a group, and the explosions actually mean something aside from dramatic effect. It has character, action, and non-stop energy that challenges the Rangers rather than having the ordinary monster of the day. Kyle Higgins' script still tends to create its own drama at times, but his handle on characters not named Tommy continues to impress. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #4 is an issue that shows that this series is going from strength to strength. It is able to use the old Power Rangers mythos and tell a story that is both familiar yet feels fresh. The art is very enjoyable and complements it well. While the story does seem to be a little repetitive with the ‘can the trust the Green Ranger?' story, what is around that is enjoyable enough you can forgive them for taking their time with the plot. Ultimately, this issue was good, but not to the same level as the previous issues. This one felt more like a bridge between two real issues, seeing the plot with the fake Dragon Dagger be resolved without really moving forward the overarching conflict between Tommy and the Rangers, which is already getting a bit stale. It would be in the series best interest to put that plot behind them relatively soon so that they can move on to bigger and better things. Read Full Review

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #4 continues the series' reputation for managing to strike a balance between artwork that feels true to the show and storytelling that feels as if it's matured with the fans. It would be nice to see the team stop arguing so much, but that change feels as if it's just over the horizon. As long as the quality of the art and writing keep up as well as they have, it'll definitely be worth it to keep reading and find out. Read Full Review
