And other times, they're like this – where little happens narratively but the things that do happen are frankly so dang cool that it's absolutely worth it. I first thought this was regular artist Jimenez, but it’s Matteo Scalera. I know I have seen his name before somewhere, but I can’t connect it to anything I read. Now this will probably never happen again, as his art in this issue is absolutely phenomenal. The layouts are bold and dynamic and reminiscent of Sean Gordon Murphy sometimes, while not being a copy. The colors by Tomeu Morey complement the lines perfectly.
The only issue I have with Batman 13, is that it’s too short.
Oh, and don’t worry about this being part of the Bad Seeds crossover. I haven’t read Bad Seeds: Sunset 1 and it only seems to have a minimal impact on this issue.+ Like • Comments (2) -

Usually an issue where the superhero doesn't talk and just has senseless fights is boring and doesn't move me. But the way Batman moves thanks to Matt Fraction and Matteo Scalera's art has me hype and looks so dynamic. The colors and visuals contrast pops out more, and I was really entertained

This a tough issue to rate. It’s part of a larger event, so if you aren’t reading the other issues, it’s easy to be lost. Basically Bats goes to police HQ to stop/arrest/capture Vandal Savage. He starts on the bottom floor and fights his way up. The fight mostly consists of fighting a cop called Big Boy. Of course Bruce gets beat bad before finally winning. They are surrounded by dozens of cops who don’t help Big Boy. When Bats wins they clear a path instead of swarming Bats.
Bats gets to top of building and Savage says Bats is under arrest. That’s the whole story. It could have been done in two pages. Bats brutes his way through the cops. He does not think his way through. He does not have a plan. He does not use any of his 432 s more -
