  Pamela Isley’s attack on Gotham City instills fear and uncertainty in the streets with an excellent lead-in. Fraction and Wilson craft a terrifying look at the struggle for power.   Batman: Bad Seeds - Sunset #1 gets DC’s latest Gotham event off to a strong start, establishing the scale of Poison Ivy’s plant takeover before slowing down to position its sprawling cast. Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson steadily build tension as the city approaches disaster, while the Batman-focused final stretch gives the issue a satisfying story of its own. Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cliff Rathburn, and Tomeu Morey make the takeover feel suitably massive and dangerous.   Batman: Bad Seeds has the chance to slow down the momentum the Bat-books have built up, but judging by this kick-off issue, that might not be a problem we need to worry about. Fraction and Wilson do a great job of exciting me for a story that wasn’t something I was looking forward, all while Camuncoli and Rathburn give the issue the fantastic imagery it needs to hook readers. This isn’t a perfect comic, but it really is everything you could ask for from a book like this. You couldn’t go wrong picking up this one (although your wallet might not thank you).   Wilson and Fraction work quite well together. One wouldn't necessarily assume that this was an issue that was written by two different authors. It all blended together quite well. And yet those who are familiar with both others will clearly be able to tell who wrote what. Typically a collaboration like this might feel more patched together from two different titles.   Batman Bad Seeds Sunset #1 is likely a must have issue for readers who are not following Poison Ivy. It delivers the absolute necessary backstory and positions all the Gotham characters for their place in the event. Fraction and Wilson lay out the plot and its stakes effectively. Batman Bad Seeds Sunset #1 doesn’t have the greatest level of depth, but it does everything that it needs to do to set the stage for this new Batman event. Read Full Review
