The survivors of a horrifying vampire attack, led by Deathstroke, take shelter with Talia al Ghul. With intel from a hero recently saved from vampirism, John Constantine prepares them for a (suicide) mission, while Midnighter goes through every scenario in his head and finds out the dark truth. Meanwhile the mysterious vampire Lord Cinder has become aware of their plans and prepares a surprise...
I actually think that while the main story was strong, the backup was the best part of this issue. Read Full Review
All-Out War #2 manages to shake things up in the DC Vs. Vampire universe again. It feels more focused and goal oriented than many of the other tie-ins and the main series while retaining some unpredictability. The characters feel sufficiently desperate and damaged. The current pattern of writing makes the book feel like a post-apocalyptic version of The Warriors (1979). In further issues, they could whittle down the team as they try to escape with their lives. None of my small criticisms will bother readers already invested. Nor will the strangely toned backup story really affect enjoyment of the main story. Read Full Review
If you enjoyed the last issue, you should love what the creative team is doing with DC vs. Vampires: All-Out War #2. It progresses the story, sets up a major goal to help the heroes turn the tide, and has a backup that promises to give readers new insight into the main villain of the event. It may be a little rough around the edges, but it's must-read material if you've loved DC vs. Vampires. Read Full Review
There's nothing new or notable added to that formula, however, and All-Out War reads like a comic playing every choice safe even as it showcases Wonder Woman murdering beloved DC icons. Read Full Review
This is just really nice, it's the characters that make this so interesting, and how they adapt to the situations.
First of all, that backup was awesome. I’m still reserving my judgement to see how it continues but I really liked what I saw.
If this series gets continued/expanded I hope Emma Vieceli and Haining can contribute more, because in only 8 pages they gave us intrigue, humour and even cool lore, something that is pretty difficult to do without it feeling forced. She also gets Nightwing’s voice pretty well. Pretty perfect really.
But the main story was stronger than in the first issue too. I didn’t love that issue but the writing here seemed stronger when it came to the heroic characters.
Talia and Alfred are a duo that work surprisingly well, I really liked that Mary is basically in a normal adventure comi more
Points for the backup, like many here, I also hope the writer/artist combo do more stuff with this story.
I think this spin-off is being carried by the backups tbh. They are excellent.
The main story is just fine.
Today's issue felt more action oriented but the story still progressed nicely. Showing the strengths of placing your story in an alternate universe, characters can and will die. The humor continues to work really well too, one joke in particular took me out of the story for a moment since it was an "ok boomer" joke but that ain't a big issue. I'm really curious to see where Azrael journey is going and now I guess we have our main antagonist. This series is shaping up great. This time the surprise was the backup story that felt like an manga, one about vampires of course. Anyway, very fun read.
The backup was actually much better than the main story, but overall a solid issue.
These DC vs Vampires tie-ins have not been good, and seem to miss the tension and intrigue of the main series.
I only picked this up for the backup. It's an intriguing first look into how Dick got involved with the Vampires. Vieceli gets Dick's voice right and Haining's art conveys emotions very well, and the Vamps look amazing.
