DC Comics News - Max Eber Mar 26, 2015

This is a good book, Gotham Academy has very appealing characters, is more or less teen and kid friendly, gorgeous artwork and a cool aesthetic begging to be made into an animated series; no reason not to invest so go get it! Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - TBU Contributor Mar 26, 2015

As I stated above the conversation about mental health in this issue is great but unexpected. I was hoping to see something like this in Arkham Manor.Batman's interest in the Cobblepot Diary finally made me care about Olive's obsession with that book.I didn't notice any homages to Batman history in this issue. Hopefully the writers continue to include it in future issues. It's expert fan service. The Gotham TV series should take note.  Read Full Review

Geeked Out Nation - Draven Katayama (loudlysilent) Mar 26, 2015

This is by far the best issue of recent issues of Gotham Academy. Each character's individuality shines through in dialogue, from Colton's “The Fuzz!” to Maps' “Oh my crap!” Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher write some of the most fun dialogue and engaging storytelling in current comics. Weird Science - Jim Werner May 31, 2015

Gotham Academy is one of my favorite books and this issue does more to set up the series going forward than wrap up the current arc and I loved it.  This book is oozing with character and I truly care about everyone in it.  I want more and I want it now. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge Mar 26, 2015

I haven't been picking up too many DC Comics books in the last couple of years, but I tried this one when it first came out and have fallen in love with it. I do try to temper my enthusiasm for it since I know I'm practically fanboying about it in some ways, but this first six issue run here is the kind of book that when it does hit in trade, you want to make sure copious copies flow to kids so they can get in on a comic book that's closer to their ages with the cast and with a great, creepy lense through which to look at the world. There's plenty of Harry Potter feelings to this series in a lot of ways and if DC Comics isn't looking to figure out how to mass market this series, then they're failing horribly at attracting younger and newer readers to their properties. This is a fantastic book from a great team that has a ton of potential ahead of them, potential that I can't wait to see more of exercised. Very recommended. Read Full Review

Infinite Comix - Jeremy Eloi Mar 27, 2015

In conclusion, Gotham Academy #6 is an amazing book. While the writing is on par with what has come before, at times it could have been a bit clearer. The Croc fight could have been a bigger part of the issue. These problems are minor and this is still one of the best books that DC is putting out. If Gotham Academy was an experiment by DC then this was a resounding success. With the June releases going a bit indie and more diverse, this book can be looked at as the one who started it all and has a potentially great future. Read Full Review

Gotham Academy has everything. Romance, mystery, suspense, high school drama, a cast that gets better with every issue, and most importantly, a great creative team. A team who are not only pushing for diversity and inclusivity within comics, but who are delivering it with every issue. Read Full Review

Doom Rocket - Molly Jane Kremer Mar 31, 2015

An epilogue containing a huge tease about the future of the series (and a new matriculating student) could cause some alarm that the series might be switching its focus and aligning itself more resolutely into the Batman universe. But this issue, successfully utilizing both Batman and Killer Croc without overwhelming or sidetracking the current narrative, makes the case that despite adding a new and colorful character, Cloonan, Fletcher, and Kerschl et al will ensure the same level of high quality they've maintained since the series' lauded debut. Graphic Policy - Edward Wendt Mar 25, 2015

The series still stands out as one to watch at DC, only it must be noted that once again a big DC wide crossover is thrown into the mix and will have an impact on this series. It would seem as though the series is teetering on some kind of a breaking point as the epilogue throws a bit more Batman into the Academy, which might work for the series and it might not. Nonetheless this issue works where it needs to, and while it might not be as strong as others in the series, its quality is still above what to expect from other series. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Jennifer Cheng Mar 30, 2015

The resolution of the Millie Jane Cobblepot diary subplot feels rushed, and the truth about Olive's mother is still held back for later in the series. This is a tease, so expectations for the future payoff are now duly raised. The revelation about Arkham was well-timed and fascinating, however, and the teaser scene drawn by Chen at the end is light, bright and full of mischievous promise. In "Gotham Academy" #6, intrigue, mysteries and bonds between friends and enemies all continue to grow in a wonderful new corner of Gotham. Read Full Review

    Newsarama - Forrest C. Helvie Mar 26, 2015

This issue concludes the first story arc for Gotham Academy, and it's safe to say Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher deliver a very solid story in terms of introducing and developing each of the characters and not leaning heavily on its Bat-roots. Read Full Review

“Gotham Academy” #6 is fun, action packed and does a great job at setting the stage for the next arc post “Convergence”. I've been turned into a believer thanks to the gradual development of the main characters. I'm very much ready for Damien Wayne to be super moody with the rest of the students. Read Full Review

The Latest Pull - Brandon Clarkson Mar 28, 2015

Issue #6 provides a solid turning point for this series. Some loose ends are tied up, but what draws in the reader is still in full force. Big questions are left to be answered until later in the series. Hopefully, with the popularity of this title increasing, we'll begin to see the creators branch out to show us more of this fascinating lore and setting they've created. Read Full Review

    Henchman-4-Hire - Sean Ian Mills Mar 28, 2015

I'm actually kind of surprised that we're only at issue #6, and that this is only the end of the first story arc. Gotham Academy feels like it's been around a lot longer. It feels like a fuller, bigger series than six simple issues would suggest. That's a pretty great feeling. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Jordan Richards Mar 25, 2015

Gotham Academy #6 is a decent conclusion to the first storyline, but not without its own little problems. The writing is good and the story wraps up nicely, but the inconsistent coloring and conclusions to some of the plotlines leave a bit to be desired. Still, it was a good issue regardless and I look forward to where the comic is going in the future. Read Full Review
