The newest Earth One original graphic novel presents an all-new origin for the Emerald Warrior!
Hal Jordan yearns for the thrill of discovery, but the days when astronaut and adventure were synonymous are long gone. His gig prospecting asteroids for Ferris Galactic is less than fulfilling-but at least he's not on Earth, where technology and culture have stagnated. When Jordan finds a powerful ring, he also finds a destiny to live up to. There are worlds beyond his own, unlike anything he ever imagined. But revelation comes with a price: the Green Lantern Corps has fallen, wiped out by ruthless killing machines known as Manhunters. The od more
Not quite up there with Superman Earth One, but still a very good effort at making what's old new again. I'd happily recommend this one. Read Full Review
While books in the Earth Oneline have been hit and miss,Green Lantern: Earth One Vol. 1 is most definitely in the hit section and is arguably the series' best yet. It simultaneously embraces the mythology while putting its own spin on it and delivers a true sci-fi adventure that doesn't shy away from the source material's fantastic elements. Bechko and Hardman write a compelling script while Hardman and Boyd make a visually great book that helps make it stand on its own. Read Full Review
Bechko and Hardman have crafted a universe that has me excited to see what a Volume 2 could look like. With such a vast mythology to alter and play with Id love to see what they can do with the rest of it, especially with Sinestro. Read Full Review
Green Lantern: Earth One #1 is a great first installment in what I hope will be several more adventures of this excitingly different take on the Green Lantern mythology. Corinna Bechko's and Gabriel Hardman's re-envisioned Green Lantern is a breath of fresh air for the franchise well grounded in reality and filled with the fantastic. This is science fiction tale of redemption and rebirth that is relevant to the times. Read Full Review
All said, this book is a worthy edition to the Earth One line of hardcover books. It's worth the $24.99 price, and will look good on your shelf too. Read Full Review
Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko hit a home run with this shit man. There's a lot left in the air and so many strings to be tied up. This is what Green Lanterns needed in order to be re-envisioned. A blank landscape with new rules is all that's needed to separate this iteration of Green Lanterns from the mythology we've become accustomed to. Read Full Review
While hampered by pacing problems, Green Lantern: Earth One offers an engrossing overhaul of an iconic hero. Read Full Review
In the end,Green Lantern: Earth One isn't a rehash of the traditional Hal Jordan story, but neither does it abandon its roots. It's fairly close to an "Elseworlds" spin on the story, taking a familar story and giving it an alien overlay. This may put it at the forefront of the Earth One line, believe it or not: it's high quality, keeps to its roots, but still allows itself to stand free of repetition. Read Full Review
Earth One if a wonderful re-imaging of the Hal Jordan Green Lantern Character. It's atmospheric, creatively smart, and enjoyable to look at. All it lacks is appeal to anyone outside it's target audience of Green Lantern fans. Read Full Review
EFFING A!
They take there time, but at the end, I was right there with the new Lantern team.
I loved this Hall Jordan with many heavy misjudging action to overcome.
I love many Lantern stories, but this on as a special place.
Cover - Nice & related 2/2
Writing - I really loved what they did there. 3/3
Arts - Love the art that I know from Invincible Republic. 3/3
Feeling - I will wait for a 2 ... The only Earth One title with Batman to convincing me. 2/2
DC’s Earth-One line is reintroducing us to their greatest icons one volume at a time but with new leases on life. Since these characters exist on Earth-One in the DC multiverse (Not Earth-0), this is not intended to be a retelling of their origin stories but rather an alternate telling of them.
This story is one you may already know if you are familiar with Lantern Lore, but the writing is what impresses the most. The novel was seemingly written as if it was expected to be adapted into a feature film, ditching the tired old military protocol of the ‘Corps’ for a space opera theme that favors the visual storytelling beautifully illustrated here.
With vol 2 already on the way we will get to see how the ring continu more
A fun and action-packed re-telling of Hal Jordan's journey to become Green Lantern. The pacing was a little off (especially the end which felt kind of rushed) but overall I'd still say this is a must-read for GL fans.
I don't really understand, this comic is super overrated, it's fun, yeah.. but not great. I'm a huge fan of DC comics,my favorite comics Inc ever!! That's why I'm so disappointed about this comic.. cause it's just so rushed, the moment Jordon got the ring and he got everything right.. it's so rushed during the entire comic... Still it's a fun comic to read, but disappointing!
