Nightwing has managed to work in all the elements of this book from previous arcs to give us a truly captive and interesting story arc. This book could go in so many directions, it will be a thrill to see how it turns out. Read Full Review
It was good getting back in touch with Nightwing as he has long been on my top 5 favorite heroes list. I'll be back in Bludhaven again next month and for the foreseeable future. Read Full Review
The finale is still being built up, so it wasn't the most exciting issue. But it accomplished in truly defining Raptor's motivations, and setting the stage for each character. Read Full Review
Better indeed than its predecessor, this issue of Nightwing brought me back on board with Seeley's final arc. With some intriguing plot developments, bits of humor, and some truly outstanding art, this book is back on the road to greatness. Fitting for such a strong talent's swan song on the title. Spending more TLC on the most important characters in the Bludhaven right now, issue #31 Blood of the Orca" fleshes out the moral quandaries in effect here, establishes the relatively dire personal circumstances for Dick as well as Roland, and continues to explore the depths of the supporting characters of this arc. As for supportingplayers, the Run-Offs, their story is not yet over " though it SHOULD BE. Imean really, how long can Seeley milk thesuper-villain-wannabes-who-dont-wannabe-yet-still-act-like-it? If he wants toexplore supporting characters, perhaps he should focus on Detective Svoboda. Icant help but feel its more fertile ground. Read Full Review
This story seems to be taking its time in showing us all its cards, but I find myself appreciating that because we get to spend more time in seeing all the characters of Bludhaven that I've come to love. Yeah, certain aspects of this issue were played out longer than they should have been, but overall, I look forward to where this story is taking us and showing us how far Dick will straddle the line of his morals. This issue's not terrible, but it's not good either. More than anything else, it's forgettable. Skip it if you're not a major Nightwing fan. Read Full Review
The ending of a thirty plus creative run on a book should have the feel of an event, with the issues building to a big finish and I just dont get that sense from this book. The characters seems to just keep circling each other without any sense of building urgency. Seeley has had a lot of good ideas throughout his run, and its a shame to see his time on the book ending this way. At this point, Im looking forward to this run being over and to the creator change in December. Read Full Review
I love Raptor and Blockbuster's moral greyness. They are not evil for evil's sake. It makes them human and we can relate with that.
It's a shame Nightwing is just a superhero caricature in this. Seeley's character work of Dick Grayson is at its' lowest in this arc, which is a great surprise if you read the rest of his run.
In the end, this is another buildup issue. I just hope the destination is worth it.
Stronger than the last issue, but Dick really still seems off his game. At least Blockbuster and Raptor are not.
