On Comics Ground - Melissa Privette Dec 13, 2018

Marc Andreyko continues to deliver an incredible Supergirl, and the backup stories, including one written by the great Dan Jurgens, are an added treat. Read Full Review

The Super Powered Fancast - Deron Generally Dec 12, 2018

This is the main story of the issue and the one that I wish was longer. Kara's quest for answers has been the main through line of this arc and this deviation takes away from that to a certain extent. I wish there was more in this issue about Kara's discovery, but the pace of the story was well done. Read Full Review

Comic Book Bin - Deejay Dayton Dec 29, 2018

Three decent enough stories. But somehow I feel I ought to have liked this issue more. The brevity of the first tale was probably what pulled this down in my eyes. I needed more revelation and/or explanation. Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Adam Ray Dec 13, 2018

As a holiday special issue goes, this one is very easily among one of my favorites. It has deep action, charm, and introduces a new character and plot lines. It's in keeping with what's going on in the run, whilst giving us the holiday breather we need. Read Full Review

Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj Dec 14, 2018

It is a simple, very Christmas message of giving. We have all read stories like this before. So it isn't ground-breaking. I love it for it's sappiness. So not a bad anniversary issue. If only Zor-El could go back to being a good guy! Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Amit Malaviya Dec 21, 2018

Though one expects great things from an anniversary issue, this one has it's hits and misses, with two interesting stories followed by one which doesn't serve the title character as well as it ought to. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Dan Mayhoff Dec 12, 2018

This issue is a bit odd. Our main story has basically a long fight scene that while entertaining, doesn't really push this story further but perhaps the cliffhanger will give us something good in the future. We also got two smaller stories that were okay. Z'ndr's story gives us a little about his past but I feel like it only helped me get to know the character a little better. Not really anything of real substance. However, I really enjoyed the Christmas story from Dan Jurgens. Usually Christmas stories are a bit dull and cliche and this was was a bit cliche too but maybe I'm just in the Christmas spirit or it melted my Grinch heart, but I really liked it. Read Full Review

Overall, it's that Jurgens story that elevates the whole book as the primary story is really a lot of nothing. Read Full Review
