Superman/Wonder Woman #9 does a good job of being both a good Doomed chapter and Superman/Wonder Woman issue.  A couple new allies enter the battle against Superman as he fights the monster inside of him.  Charles Soule has me looking forward to both stories and Tony S. The art by Tony Daniel is fantastic as always (what can I say, the man can draw a good splash page or two). There are dynamic action scenes, but some of his facial features can feel one-dimensional and don't seem to work correctly in the scenes where Wonder Woman is coming close to a nervous breakdown. The issue has some corny dialogue especially when Doomsday starts entering Clark's thoughts and becomes a kid's movie equivalent of a bully, but there are few faults in this issue. Read Full Review

In conclusion then, Superman/Wonder Woman #9 may not be the best Superman-related title on shelves. However, its pretty damn good and its proving that there is life in the Superman: Doomed epic yet, and to see where Soule and Pak take it from here should be very interesting indeed. This is another strong addition to both the Superman/ Wonder Woman series and Superman: Doomed. Praise should be given to Soule and Daniel as they successfully balance all the elements that come with the issue and also offer a new side to Superman that will impact the rest of the series. The romantic dialogue felt a bit off when Diana says goodbye to Clark. But I love how much she believes in him and defends him tirelessly. And, as usual, the art is just beautiful. While I do think this issue stumbles a little bit from its predecessors, "Doomed" still continues its hot streak with Superman/Wonder Woman #9. While the story has a lot of tension already inherent in its premise, Soule taps into a little bit of that human spark by showing things from someone other than Superman's perspective. While I think the excess of guest stars hurts this issue slightly, it's clear that the (super)power of love keeps this team-up book alive. Read Full Review

“Superman/Wonder Woman” #9 is an enjoyable continuation of “Doomed,” but the story is beginning to drag. This is at least the third issue in a row that has ended with a rogue-ish Superman flying off for parts unknown. While Soule builds on the explosive events of the previous chapter, shifting the status quo ever so slightly, there's just not much forward momentum. This, coupled with the book's divided structure, prevents the issue from being an absolute must read. However, Soule's strong character work and Daniel's terrific art are certainly worth a look. Superman/Wonder Woman #9 may be a necessary chapter in Kal and Diana's relationship to move the Superman: Doomed story along, but it does so at the expense of character authenticity. Whatever resolution may come of Superman's fight with death, a return to the honest repartee between two of the DCU's most powerful people will be a welcome one, if it ever comes.
