Destro thought he was untouchable. In Destro #3, hes not so sure. Still, the laird of Clan Destro demonstrates that the best weapon isn't guns, tanks, drones, or smart bombs, but the ability to think on your feet, to adapt to changing circumstances, and to always believe that you are invincible. You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Aug 21, 2024

Yesterday I was shot with a bullet. I was shot fro the sky with rockets. says Destro, But I did not have time to die... Theres real poetry to what Watters is delivering to the page, which is a bit odd for a guy who seems to have been originally just conceived as an action figure with a cool-looking chrome head.  Read Full Review

Destro was always a popular G.I. Joe villain due to his outstanding design and unique position within Cobra; Destro #3 makes the character himself one of the most intriguing characters across the entire new Energon universe. Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Brett Aug 21, 2024

Destro #3 is an interesting issue as it broadens Destro's reach but also ups the conspiracy leaving readers guessing who's behind the attacks. While not a standout series, it does add nicely to the world of G.I. JOE that Skybound is building. It's also a series that clearly is more focused on the broader story than an individual issue. Overall, an interesting addition to the G.I. JOE line that feels like the jury is still out on. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez Aug 19, 2024

Destro #3 is an action-packed comic book. Destro's fight against the Chameleon is choreographed in a way that you are constantly guessing how it could end. All of the action has a sense of purpose that gets you even more invested in how this series developments will factor into the greater GI JOE plans in the Energon Universe. The cliffhanger creates a lot of intrigue to find out what will happen in the second half of this mini-series. Read Full Review

Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez Aug 23, 2024

DESTRO #3 is a mixed bag of cool action moments and interesting conversations, but Destro's journey only works if you accept a few forced developments that require you to turn your brain off. Plus, the art waffles between pretty good and poor. Read Full Review

This is a very different type of Energon universe book. A lot of exposition and Destro backstory. All that being said, the first third was action and the second two thirds backstory. I liked the flow and I enjoyed the ancestors argument being the same point Destro makes. A nice little thing that both made me chuckle but really sells the point the guy is a true believer in his family and what he does. Truly a bad person but a person who knows he is bad and knows he is a necessary evil for how the world works.

I quite enjoyed this. Good opening action, a chuckle later, nice backstory. Worth your money.

While it seems to lack a little of that knack Duke and Cobra Commander had, this is still pretty good. It certainly delivers in the action and intrigue department, and the end of this issue also makes one more eager to learn more about what the Energon Universe G.I. Joe world will be like.
I'm truly looking forward to the new ongoing G.I. Joe. I've heard more hype for it than any of DC's Absolute crap. I expect from what I've seen in 3 out of the 4 prelude series that it's shaping up to be quite a thrill ride.

Though we really have to suspend belief in reality. I did mostly enjoy this issue. Destro would have been dead ten times over. The sniper rifle she was using goes through armor. At that distance, it would have torn a nice hole in him. Then he was blown up several times and he just happened to jump on the only truck going to the embassy in the entire area. I hope Dan Watters takes into account that this is not a Road Runner cartoon in the future.
