GI Joe 13 is the start of this five-part saga, which is sure to have some surprising developments as the heads of two rival factions unite to hold off the third major squad in Joe lore. This should be a fun arc. Read Full Review

G.I Joe #13 kicks off the Dreadnok War in a big way. The action is hot and heavy right from the jump and really pulls the reader in. If this kickoff is any indication where the war is going, we are going to be eating good. This is my Pick of the Week and should be a must have when you hit the LCS this week! Read Full Review

G.I. JOE #13 is an excellent start to the "Dreadnok War. The Dreadnoks brand of chaos to create surprise moments that accelerate multiple long-term sub-plots. How that ends up positioning both Cobra and Duke back into lead roles will certainly excite readers because of how its done. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Nov 8, 2025

There are four major forces at work in the current storyline. They could get really complicated really quickly. But in this particular issue, it all is being orchestrated with a deaf sense of drama and thematic composition on the part of everybody involved. There's a striking sense of simplicity about it that speaks to a more primal sense of drama and action. In a way this almost feels like the G.I. Joe franchise is finally reaching some of the potential that it has always had. Read Full Review

Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez Nov 5, 2025

G.I. JOE #13 is a tactical investment with moderate returns, delivering plenty of desert dust-ups and a handful of clever maneuvers but never quite justifying premium shelf space. If your comic budget is feeling the squeeze, consider whether all-out war and bold but brash coloring offer enough punch to keep buying. There's enough here for action fans, but fiscal caution is advised. Read Full Review

I had started to grow a little cold on the G.I. Joe Energon book … but issue 13 pulled me right back in. This was a fast and fun comic that echoed all that I love about G.I. Joe. The book opens with Cobra Commander acting like his classic self as Destro perfectly plots behind his back. Once Duke drops into the story and the action gets moving, its a fun ride to the cliffhanger. This series should be the template for the next G.I. Joe movie, especially now that the “Dreadnok War” has started. Great writing by Williamson and awesome art by Reilly, have me excited for issue 14! I highly recommend this issue, if you haven’t read issues 1-12, this is where you can jump on and enjoy the ride!

This is constantly a fun series. I really like the mechanical hand they gave to Cobra Commander. I love how he is getting betrayed by everyone - except Duke, who technically saved him. Willimason does a great job of giving the top characters arcs. I'd like to see Stalker, Snake Eyes, and Scarlet get bigger roles.

Tom Reilly is back, which means I have no complaints with the art. A lot is happening in this issue, and while I appreciate more content in times of decompressed storytelling, it feels that things are moving a little too fast. I think it would have benefitted the story if Williamson had given the reader some more time to digest the surprising twists and turns of this first part of Dreadnok War.
