G.I. JOE #16 proves that velocity alone cannot carry a comic when key plot moments cut corners. The Dreadnoks remain charismatic, the multifront conflict structure works conceptually, and Duke's stubborn conviction creates real stakes. But Destro's incomprehensible strategic choices, Duke's rescue that requires no actual cleverness, and coloring so muted it actively sabotages the artwork's impact make this a frustrating read. G.I. Joe #16 was another banger! Much to their dismay the Dreadnoks get a little “Bond villain” with Cobra Commander, once again allowing him to escape and the action to continue - at full throttle. The concept behind the “Dreadnok War” at first seemed an odd choice - but in practice, it is a thrill ride. The interludes with Hawk and Destro, didn’t add much, but it served to break up the action (in a good way). Joshua Williamson is absolutely killing it - BIG TIME, with some incredible and kinetic artwork by Tom Reilly to bring it home. There is not much more I can say about this series (especially this storyline) that I haven’t already said - just go out and buy it!
Another great issue, showing what kind of badass Cobra Commander is. There is a great scene with Hawk that's really good and bullets richocheting off of Destro's mask. Good stuff. I was hoping to se Hound in this issue, but it didn't happen. Looking forward to seeing how this wraps up.

For some reason the action didn’t flow smoothly in this issue, but I still enjoyed it.
Fun comic indeed.
