G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #302 is another fantastic issue that feels like it has kicked this long running series into overdrive and given it a shot of adrenaline. If you've never read the series, now's the time to check it out while long time fans will be happy with where it's all going and what's teased to come. Read Full Review
Larry Hama proved that gets how to use "silence" effectively in comics long ago, with the release of "Silent Interlude," his memorable silent story published in GI Joe: A Real American Hero #21. GI Joe: A Real American Hero #302 isn't entirely silent, but there are pages where Hama steps back and lets Chris Mooneyham and Francesco Segala's beautifully dramatic visuals breathe, and the issue is better for it. Although they refer to themselves as mutants, call we all just admit this feels an awful lot like G.I JOE ZOMBIES? Read Full Review
This book is fantastic. Zany subplot of a Cobra civil war with Serpentor and zombies gearing up to take on Cobra Commander in Springfield. All while the Joes bury one of their own in a moody, almost wordless sequence.
There’s a lot of attention on the Energon Universe books and deservedly so. I’m excited to see how the Joes fit into that new world. That said, don’t sleep on this classic Joes book. Hama is as good as ever and Chris Mooneyham is about the freshest coat of paint this series could ask for. The art is phenomenal!!!
I enjoyed this issue. I have no idea what happened before #301 so I'm still waiting for the story to pick up, but definitely appreciate the set up and patiently waiting to get better acquainted with the heroes and villains. The BEST part though is the FREAKING AMAZING ART! WOW! I just flipped through the ish before I even read it. LOVE how this art style and colors is perfect for this book.
While I do enjoy the new arch, it doesn't seem like a G.I. Joe comic.
I must be reading a completely different book than everyone else. These two issues have been complete garbage, in my opinion. This doesn't even feel like a GI Joe story. It has some GI Joe characters in it, but that's about it. We have flesh-eating zombies, a Cobra Commander who is having a meeting with grieving families, and 4 pages of a funeral for a character I didn't even know. Snake Eyes having a relationship with Scarlet? What is even going on? They should have rebooted it and not tried to continue this seemingly awful continuity that makes no sense whatsoever. I'm dropping this title. Have fun with it guys.
