This issue adds to that track record by setting up what could be two to three issues worth of a battle that fans of the Invincible Universe are ready to see. May 20, 2026Stuck on the planet while his ship is being restored, Battle Beast longs for another fight. His friend, King Salaka, might have an ideal quest for him until it gets interrupted by another major Invincible Universe player who is far more interested in adding to his race’s empire. Battle Beast never disappoints or lets up. This series has been locked in from the first page, and it stays on task in providing one of the best reading experiences each month. Next issue should be a real banger. Read Full Review

May 19, 2026The action wraps up way too quickly, leaving the rest of the issue to deal with transitioning. While we’re excited for the upcoming battle that keeps getting teased, this issue suffers for it. Read Full Review

May 22, 2026Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #9 is largely a set-up issue for the long-awaited clash with Conquest. While it does an effective job building anticipation, it doesn’t hit with the same high impact of previous issues in this series. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
May 19, 2026Kirkman’s premise is not without merit. It really could be something if he could just edit it in just the right way, it really might turn into something entertaining. As it is, though, there are so many bits of exaggeration and amplification around the edges of everything that don't really serve the center of supremacists to true potential. It's possible that Kirkman is working with is a couple of good ideas that would work better on their own. Or maybe he could just spend a little bit less time dealing with one of them. This issue is just a filler issue. Literally very few things happen. We get some nice character work of Battle beast actually admitting he has a friend wth the new ruler of the planet. and finally we get Conquest at the end. I must admit this was my least favorite issue of the series but hey , they all can't be nonstop action. This issue is leagues better than anything Marvel put out this last few months.
having this series being prequel means we lose all the stakes , battle beast dies much later, conquest the same. so the battle can only go so far. but thats fine with me. I know someone of Kirkman's talent will make it cool anyway.
