Geoff Johns keeps the emotional stakes high as the team struggles with trust, guilt, and survival, while Jason Fabok makes the spider attack feel dangerous and overwhelming. With a strong cliffhanger and plenty of momentum, this issue sets up the next issue in a major way. If you are like me and have fallen off from reading this series for one reason or another, it’s time to get back into it. Sep 02, 2026The background on Stelhen Neal Kove appears in an encyclopedic entry at the end of the issue. Once again...the additional info at the end of an issue of Rook serves to give additional context that enhances the story. There really is a great deal of backstory that goes into the world of Exodus. Johns has a kind of a complicated web of a premise with Rook. He’s done a really good job of articulating the world of Rook in a way that’s appealing on a visceral level of action as well as a deeper conceptual level with the basic premise of Exodus. Plot
Bloodhound remembers nothing after being controlled by Arachnid. He recalls visiting the World Engine to fix it, and then forgets everything. Stag tries to calm his anger, because he knows Bloodhound doesn't remember what he did. Now they all go to the core to try to fix the World Engine.
Suddenly, they are attacked by Arachnid, who has a kind of robotic exoskeleton. Rook, Stag, Dire Wolf, Matterhorn, and Bloodhound are cornered, and Rook's crows have been injured, affecting his concentration.
But out of nowhere, a mysterious boy arrives wearing Swine's helmet and brings the animals that had been trapped on the surface: crows, wolves, and pigs.
