A must-read for Venom-lovers, this over-the-top premiere is just what fans have been asking for. Read Full Review
This tie-in ties up some past Carnage-related stories and brings back an old player from Maximum Carnage in a new way. A serviceable installment, but with the event spawning so many books this month, this one feels kind of in the middle: better than some of them have been, not as good as the others. Read Full Review
Perhaps once we get in and out of Ravencroft, Lethal Protectors will start to blossom, but for now, it seems too concerned with the dark and muck of this crossover event. Read Full Review
Repetitive and reductive, Lethal Protectors fails to make a positive impression with its first issue despite some cool, finite and specific scenes. Read Full Review
Lol, fuckin' Demogoblin. I'm sorry, Demagoblin.
"I love you. I know."
This was okay!
Prelude:
Well, unlike the core storyline, Absolute Carnage's tie-ins haven't hooked me once yet. With that in mind, let's see what Lethal Protectors has in store.
The Good:
It's downright creepy throughout and that's the main selling point here. Cults, Carnage and much more. Definitely the right materials.
The Bad:
Nothing sat... right with me. Though better than the other tie-ins, it still doesn't have that vibe I get from the core series.
Conclusion:
Whilst Cates has been writing up a storm in the core series, Lethal Protectors keep the ongoing theme of me being uninterested in the tie-ins.
Maximum Carnage is practically required reading to understand this, and that sits poorly with me. It does have a nice creepy mood, though.
