Overall, Hopeless, artist Mark Bagley, Diaz and the series' other creators should be proud of their work on this volume of All-New X-Men. I was a big fan of Bendis' run and was pleasantly surprised " and relieved " to see Hopeless not repeat the formula, and instead take these young mutants' stories in exciting new directions. Overall, this is a good issue that sets this team forward into their unknown future. And given what unfolds, they truly have no idea what lies ahead of them. The big revelation had me scratching my head and made me go back and read it a couple of times, but is also got me really interested to keep following this team and see how things play out in the forthcoming X-Men Blue. The hope was that Dennis Hopeless would be able to wrap up his series on a high note in the aftermath of IvX. Sadly, that doesn't turn out to be the case. Read Full Review
While this series was a solid outing I'm not saddened to see it end. I look forward to the future and what the next round of mutant titles have to offer. Read Full Review
The pacing was a little weird, but good moments.
Fine. Better than I expected. But the series itself was disappointing. I hate Pickles. No development for Idie or Evan.
While this series overall has been great, this issue left me a little cold.
Hank closes the volume by explicitly demonstrating the O5 team can't go back to the Silver Age. I think we already knew that, but it's nice to have certainty. The team celebrates its run with a dance party. Hank wanted to do baseball, but the Extraordinary X-Men played that card last week. It's a pretty quiet issue writing-wise, but Paco Diaz's art is quite a treat. It's a solid match for Mark Bagley's work with a distinctive spin of its own.
The art was above average.
The pacing, as stated by a previous reviewer, was awkward.
The supporting characters, other than the Original Five, were written strangely out of character, and could have been left out of the book completely.
The ending was especially annoying. I am looking forward to Cullen Bunn getting control of these characters.
