Zdarksy is really on to something with this Captain America run. This run of Captain America is setting the trajectory for the future of the Marvel Universe, and it couldn't have a better creative team at the helm. Through Steve Rogers, Zdarsky shows us that even heroes have to dance with the darkness of past decisions creeping up. We've gotten some new and exciting characters, and I can't wait to see how One World Under Doom is tied up and the stage set for Armageddon. Read Full Review

As far as starts go, this one is off to a roaring start. This is already shaping up to be a storyline you're not going to want to miss out on, because it's already one of the best this year. Together with stunning artwork, I can't emphasize enough that you should put this series on your read list ASAP. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke Jan 21, 2026

Captain America #6 is a deliberate, dialogue-heavy launch of a new story arc that prioritizes groundwork over fireworks. While it occasionally buckles under the weight of its own exposition, the issue succeeds in positioning Steve Rogers at the center of a morally compromised world struggling to replace Doctor Doom's fallen empire. It's a cerebral start that asks readers to invest now so the espionage and action can pay off later. Read Full Review

KPB Comics - Joseph Pines Jan 22, 2026

Overall, the final package of Captain America #6 makes for a weird middle point in Zdarsky's run. It feels like the start to a story that will suffer from being sandwiched in between two major events, and unfortunately, it seems like one that will be forgotten compared to what came before and what is sure to come after. Plot
This comic is set after the death of Doctor Doom in ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM, where the world fears what might happen in this politically unstable country, as two factions fight for the nation's new leadership.

The two factions are TRUE LATVERIA, led by SALVATION, an iron-masked figure who emulates Doom and seeks to gain sympathy through the resemblance; and LATVERIA LIBERATORS, led by two siblings, Mara and Melor Sandu. Both hold extremist views, believing that if they manage to obtain Doctor Doom's secret weaponry, the world will be in danger.

Steve Rogers is called upon by the new S.H.I.E.L.D., led by Nick Fury Jr. and General Ross (Red Hulk). They ask him to join their team to assault Latveria and seize contr more

This series is really the best marvel has had to offer in a while.

Valerio Schiti was good in the first arc, but Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizar are even better if you ask me. This is fantastic art and the writing is great as well, if you can get into all the political intrigue and a Cap that is just as conflicted and downtrodden as idealism in the US seems to be these days. Personally, I miss the carefree days of Cap just hitting some bad guys without a myriad of political implications and repercussions, but that's probably too much to ask in times like these.

It was fine. It said a lot, but didn't really do much. A lot of it was your typical Cap not believing in his mission.
