If you felt down on the X-Men after finishing the recent event, this may restore your excitement level. This epilogue shows the mindset of Storm post thinking she could trust Emma Frost. While sending other X-Men to fix some decisions made during this timeline. Overall, the issue cautiously restores my hope for the future of the X-Men. Go give it a read if you're an X-Man fan! Taken as a whole, the end of Extraordinary X-men #20 doesn't give the sense of a complete, satisfying journey. Given the exceedingly bleak circumstances of its beginning, it's hard to go from one extreme to another. To go from the brink of extinction to a friendly baseball game is a journey that requires a lot more than 20 issues and a crossover event. Even if details are lacking, the primary spirit of the X-men narrative is still there. The fact that a series like Extraordinary X-men can end in a friendly baseball game is a testament to the strength of that spirit. Read Full Review
Jeff Lemire essentially puts most of the characters back into the shape they were in before his run, and it's probably the best thing for them. Read Full Review
Every time this series started to gain momentum, an event shoved it off the tracks....and now it's done. I feel slightly disappointed, because Lemire is my favourite writer. If only he had gotten the series at a different time. Somehow I doubt he will come back to it after this.
I still think this was the best X-Men series out of the three that were out there. I'm happy to see that the X-Men are still important in the Marvel Universe and I can't wait to see Kitty return! This is a good closing chapter and cant wait for blue and gold.
Though I didn't even notice it, Cerebra went MIA during IvX. This issue rescues her and closes this phase of the X-Men's story with a good ol' baseball game. It's a very modest finale, but modesty is the appropriate choice when your whole series (with the exception of #17) has been a consistently mediocre exercise in status quo maintenance.
