It's a moving tribute both to Legion's immense growth across more than a decade of recent comics and Magneto's own across many decades; Legion of X delivers another stirring tribute to sincere notions of heroism. Read Full Review
There are times when comic books prove how unique of a medium they are. You can truly do things you simply can't replicate in any other form. In live action, in animation, in written word or otherwise. Only comics.
This is one of thoset8mrs. In a world where we are seeing live action characters walk through the forth wall, I still can't imagine anything capturing the awesomely absurd scale of an issue like this.
Thats worth something. And besides, it's a really good look into the mind of Legion as well.
Definitely my favorite issue of the series yet. I really liked the hard focus on Legion in this issue, as he's been my second favorite character across Spurrier's work on Nightcrawler, who takes my top spot. I think this issue did a great job of showcasing Legion's growth as a character, as well as his current state. I just really enjoyed this one and I hope that the series continues to stay at this level of quality as we deviate from Judgment Day and get back to the main story.
A fairly solid Legion-centric tie-in to Judgement Day. Nice to see David get a win finally!
Rafael Pimentel joins to the creative team for one of the better AXE tie-ins. Spurrier takes the opportunity to define how David has changed, how he feels, and what may come after. It's a fantastic read specially if youve been following the duo throughout the years now.
This continues to be a phenomenal book
This is a tie-in to a tie-in (it's what Legion and Nightcrawler did during X-Men Red #5), which should be a deal-breaker by itself. But it's just too dang GOOD.
A confession on the art: I like these representations of Uranos's war machines MUCH more than the ones in X-Men Red.
The script makes a deep dive into Legion's head, and there are some powerful feelings in there. But the prose has a tendency to get -- as David himself calls it -- ineffable.
That cosmic ambivalence is why I won't rate the issue as great. But it's right next door to great.
(Also I support a postmodern meta-reading of this comic where Legion's feelings toward Magneto are a reflection of Si Spurrier's feelings toward Al Ewing. more
