But Why Tho? - William Tucker
Feb 24, 2021Maestro: War and Pax #2 matches the tempo and excitement of the first issue. David captures the tone of the series to make it dark and enjoyable, whilst the art remains bright. The relationships feel like they have been built for decades, paying homage to so much of Davids writing. Dr. Doom is still very much on the periphery, but it will surely be a fantastic showdown when he and Maestro finally meet. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Dispatchdcu
Feb 24, 2021David is establishing something incredibly special here. He's made HULK the villain. However, he's found a way for me to love him and hate him at the same time. I find myself rooting for him yet also wanting him to fail even though I already know the outcome from FUTURE IMPERFECT. Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - ozwoods
Feb 24, 2021The backup story did fill in some answers concerning the fates of certain members of the Pantheon. But the big takeaway from it was the feeling of tragedy, guilt, and rage in the characters. Hopefully, these same emotions carry over into the main story. Read Full Review

With a little help from Dr. Doom, the Pantheon successfully traps the Maestro. How long can they hold that tiger by the ears, though? It's still a fast-paced story featuring very nice art. I appreciate the deceptive smoothness of the script; organizing a finely-tuned story like this is harder than it looks. Peter David's natural, terse language is so subtle that its quality risks being overlooked.
