• A truly terrifying villain from the Runaways' past returns and gives the Runaways an ultimatum with the world in the balance.
• The kids have had a hard enough time with a grandma and a 13-year-old, so...things look pretty bleak for everyone in the world.
• Plus, see a story from a never-before-seen perspective!

Runaways #14 gave us a good argument towards whether or not the children of the Gibborim should be taken seriously. It's either they go through with the sacrifice, or they try to find a loophole around killing an innocent person. Either way, a hard all is going to have to be made that will rock the boat with some of these kids. Read Full Review
I think the creative team could have easily pulled off an entire issue from the perspective of Old Lace, but half-an-issue is good too. The story moves along in interesting ways. Read Full Review
Runaways manages to be just as adorable as ever, even as this issue's plot doesn't necessarily pack the largest punch. Read Full Review
This issue is a textbook definition of fill-in and set-up issue, though it isnt entirely without merit or moments of fun. The B-story feels like the better half of them, as the A-story feels like an extended scene that could perhaps have been truncated if not for the need to keep a monthly schedule on the book. It might have been a better approach to end the standoff with the Gibborim in the last issue and then have this issue focus entirely on Old Lace and giving Takeshi Miyazawa more pages to draw. I like these characters a lot and I want to see what terrible things Alex is plotting.
This series is usually really great. The only reason the score is lower for this issue is because it's only half an issue, with the rest being filler. That first half was really good though.
Man, the artwork really took a dive, there are a couple panels where the chaperone dude, Gib, was clearly drawn without holding a staff and one was Photoshopped in afterwards. The backup story with Old Lace is cute, but can't really substitute for plot advancement.
