Wolverine and Shanna venture into the depths of the Forbidden Island...but what will get them first, the Island's inhabitants or their tempers? Another hero crash lands on the island...but is he friend or foe?
This issue is a vast improvement over the first one, thanks to the humorous dialogue and relation between Shanna and Wolverine and the addition of Amadeus Cho to the mix. It is a book that is both gorgeous and entertaining. Read Full Review
Despite its faults, such as action that moves faster than the plot and a shaky noir-ish style, Savage Wolverine remains one of Wolverine's most fun series in years. Frank Cho is moving closer to just the right balance in his art and writing, and Wolverine seems like an impossibly good fit for Cho's "apes & babes" aesthetic. It's only two issues in, so there's plenty of time for the pacing and story to catch up to each other. In the meantime, it's nothing but fun watching this book evolve. Read Full Review
This was a better issue than the last, and it is showing that this story is more than just interesting, it's also exciting, and full of action. After a slightly disappointing opener, I'm happy that this series is fulfilling the promise that it showed, as this was a very fun, and entertaining issue, and Cho did a brilliant job of developing the story. I'd recommend this to anyone, and if you were disappointed with the first issue, and decided to drop it, I'd recommend giving it another shot, as it's one of the better Wolverine stories there's been in the last year. In summary, it's a decent follow-up issue to what could have been a really terrible first issue that actually turned out to be pretty good. Read Full Review
The art is wonderful as usual from Frank, his characters are well defined and the action scenes are top notch. The story featuring Wolverine and Shanna as adventuring buddies in the vain of Romancing the Stone is an interesting idea and I am still not sure what the point of the book is. It is strange that I really want to like the book but it just is not clicking right for me. I will be sticking with it for a few more issues but I hope that the blend of action and adventure gels better in the future. Read Full Review
Perhaps my other gripe with Savage Wolverine # 2 was the depiction of Amadeus Cho (yes more of him again). In this new issue, we see him kinda grown up now. He's sporting the tailor made suit that he wore when he temporarily assumed Hercules' role as the ‘Prince of Power' sans Herc's club. It's this annoying and not-so-cool Cho that is given to us rather than the cool guy with a few tricks up his sleeve. Cho's appearance here only strengthens the statement I made earlier that there are some moments which is are off in terms of dialogues. Read Full Review
Cho's art is as sleek and attractive as ever. The series is crammed with the elements Cho is so well-known for -- jungle babes, cavemen, and dinosaurs. And there's a definite cheesecake quality to the art as Shanna parades around in her skimpy bikini and slides through the mud. If that's up your alley, The Savage Wolverine may be worth your $3.99. But for most readers, there are better outlets for Wolverine stories these days. Read Full Review
I actually stopped reading this issue, read something else, then went back to it. That's how uninteresting it was, Wolverine is a fun character, but I think he's got himself in enough titles right now. Read Full Review
I've been meaning to do a purge of my pull list and have been struggling to pick what to get rid of however this issue made it a simple enough choice, there are much better comics out there and due for release that can take its place, you only have to look at the Wolverine due for release next month and that's what I did and made the choice easier, there are many better comics out there and this really isn't worth anybodies time that's why I am dropping now before my ever optimistic nature gets a hold of me and tells my brain to just wait it'll turn the corner soon while I've wasted months getting something that I plain don't like.
