Strange Academy's first semester has come to a dark and emotional ending, leaving so much up in the air but with the promise that more is on the way very soon. This has been one of the best youthful series that Marvel has published in quite some time, with the teen voices feeling real and the magical elements being a side piece to the overall human element. Ramos delivers some visually thrilling art throughout the issue. The scenes with Emily using her power are beautifully detailed and filled with tension. Read Full Review
Strange Academy #18 sets the stage for more magical stories with these young heroes while also asserting the fact that many of them are ready to leave school entirely. The series is transforming what we know about these characters as they continue to evolve and grow, and it'll be exciting to see where they go from here. Read Full Review
Strange Academy #18didn't quite deliver everything I would've asked for from this leg of the journey's finale issue, but it brought more than enough to have me eagerly awaiting the day that Strange Academy #1graces my LCS's shelves. Read Full Review
Despite being several months too late, this issue still has a lot of strength behind it, and the story takes a really interesting twist. Too bad it ends on a major cliffhanger, with a lot left hanging, just ahead of another hiatus. Read Full Review
Strange Academy #18 isn't the typical final issue of a series. Rather than wrapping up the overarching narrative of this series Strange Academy #18 sets up an even bigger future for the magical corner of the Marvel Universe. That twist creates excitement for how Marvel plans on picking up from the promising ending of Strange Academy. If for some reason you did not read Strange Academy I highly recommend picking up this series in trade format. Its such a fun series that Marvel fans should not miss out on. Read Full Review

A big twist and a cliffhanger! This must be the last issue of an arc or something!
The writing is merely adequate in terms of prose and particularly plotting. The big twist was not particularly surprising. (And what is even the point of bringing Dr. Voodoo to the big fight if all he's gonna do is deliver a regrettable "ladies, calm down" line and then fold like an accordion when the magic starts flying?)
But when I say the script is "adequate" I also mean it gets the job done. These plot developments move the story along in a rational, enjoyable way, and I think readers who are invested in this volume and these characters will be quite satisfied. It helps that the art is relentlessly gorgeous; I think there are all of 2 panels of this issue that are less than perfect.
YAY!! I just bought and read Strange Academy Issue #18. It really was.... Spoiler alert!! Continue reading at your own peril.

A bit of a let down. Of course it had to be that the ring Doyle gave Emily is messing with her mind and gravitating her to guide everyone to a whole new dimension - THE DARK dimension. With all of the rebellious students hiding in Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum (not the room of requirement?), I would have thought that Wong or Clea would have stumbled across them by now. Especially with Umar the Unrelenting coming to dinner and the blasphemy cartel launching an attack in the entirely different Strange saga.
Artwork is cool and I even got the variant issue with the big werewolf dog on it. I more
