This is everything one could wish for from a Thanos title and it seems to get better with every issue. Read Full Review
Easily the title's most action packed issue thus far,Thanos#3 doesn't forget its beginnings as a character piece, utilizing the character's long history for some entertaining cameos by otherwise minor players. Jeff Lemire gives the issue a great structure, balancing the character and electrifying action as brought to the page by Mike Deodato and Frank Martin. The comic is a visual splendor worthy of the Mad Titan. Read Full Review
Thanos #2 set the stage for a massive battle between the Mad Titan and the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. Issue #3 delivers that battle and little else. The plot doesn't advance very far in this issue, but the spectacle is enjoyable. Read Full Review

Marvel is back in 2017! Thanos #3 kicks Donkey for sure. Best issue of the run so far
As I picked up this book to read it, I wondered exactly what I was looking for. It isn't Thanos killing unmercifully without reprieve, but I know that is what is certainly to be expected from a Thanos book. So this issue surprised me. It is almost all battle with the Imperial Guard, but Lemire and Deodato use these 9-grid pages with different characters talking about Thanos and his heartless destruction. It makes the battle seem all the more daunting, and brings to mind that the only reason the fight is even close is because Thanos is dying. And then when Gladiator gets called to the fray at the end of his 9-panel grid exposition on Thanos, I thought "awesome..." So this issue did a good job of pointing out Thanos' complete indestructibilitmore
The Shi'ar Imperial Guard captures Thanos while talking heads deliver a set of "who is this Thanos guy?" Cliffs Notes. Though the recap-friendly structure is executed well, it's definitely telling us why Thanos is important rather than showing us. Similarly, the art uses a lot of textural tricks - ziptone, chiaroscuro, cool blocking, etc - to add weight and depth to the visuals. While it's done well, a good artist could achieve the same effect by just investing more effort in the drawing itself.
