This issue costs $5 and the reason is that there are two backup stories from when Rick Remender previously wrote for Wolverine and Deadpool. The Wolverine story demonstrates that Rick Remender has actually been exploring the idea of Wolverine's duality and appeal for a while. After all, a character like Wolverine almost needs to be a killer in order not to be too much muscle or needs to have enemies that can regrow themselves like Sabertooth. The backup story shows that Wolverine is one of the most realistic characters in the way he reacts to situations if written well. This was a welcome issue after the junk we've been dealing with as of late... We got to see that Psylocke IS really hurting as a result of everything that happened to her recently, we saw that Fantomex DOES seem to care more about Psylocke than as a conquest, and we see that AOA Nightcrawler seems to want to stay in this world. Also, we've already been teased as to who will be part of this new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants by solicitations and previews of future issues, and in this issue it really seems like Remender is carefully bringing all these players in to team up in a way that really makes sense. Overall, Uncanny X-Force #25 seems to be celebrating the landmark issue by stripping things back down to basics, and shedding some cast members ostensibly to make room for new blood. Mike McKone's art meshes well with the style of previous artists on this title. He emphasizes more realistic imagery that helps to sell the gravity of the plot as well as the gore of the violence. As the action ramps up towards the end, he offers up some excellent paneling that emphasizes the big moments, yet the last page falters. I'm not sure what happened there to cause the art quality to dip and resemble a cheesy reveal page from the 90s, but everything leading up to it was solid. Read Full Review

Something felt off this issue. Specifically many of the scenes in the White Sky Room felt... odd. I had to re-read them several times, the words would just not sink in. I've never had that problem with Remender's work before; maybe it's the art? I like the set-up, as always Remender is a fount of brave new ideas and concepts (White Sky Room, Omega Clan); and the side-scenes at the Jean Grey School for Gifted Youngsters were exquisite; powerful, yet underplayed. Emotional, yet contained. It didn't have the same punch as the first issue of the previous arcs... hopefully Remender hasn't spread himself too thin with other titles (since this series has been EPICALLY amazing up-to-now); and we are in for some fantastic drama next issue.
