It seems there's a lot of potential in pitting Venom against Spider-Man's most iconic foes. While this issue doesn't do enough to flesh out that Venom/Kraven dynamic, it does further cement Kraven as a worthy and very dangerous foe to Eddie Brock. Those looking for an ultra-violent, anti-hero Venom experience will be disappointed. Instead, this lighter and less serious take on Eddie Brock's brand of justice is as enjoyable as it is stupid. Venom is awesome! This Kraven arc is really fun and has some really cool moments. The art has been so good with Bagley and this series just keeps getting better.

Kraven blasts Venom into an "If This Be My Destiny" homage, which is a super heavily-worn square on the spider-story bingo card. It's a safe, simple story that breaks little new ground but also commits few sins. The rough edges to the art and the script are not all that rough, and the pace is speedy in a good way. Points that could cause trouble in a slower story speed right past without doing any harm. It's not a story that's going to stick around in my memory, but it was a perfectly fun ride while I was reading it.
