THE VENOM OF THE WIDOW!
After the birth of an all-new symbiote, what familiar face will cross its path and become its first host?! And will that host be able to resist the symbiote's corrupting and violent influence? Perhaps the bigger question: Will the symbiote be able to survive THEIRS?!

Venom #27 stumbles in the development of its latest story arc, but excellent art and the promise of greater things to come with symbiote Black Widow should be enough to maintain readers' interests. Read Full Review
Classic Venom fans will find something to like here though as series writer Torunn Grnbekk has a writing style very reminiscent of Todd McFarlane, right down to some of the same bizarre storytelling decisions. Read Full Review
"State of Grace Part 2" is a solid followup to issue 26, and a very good comic.
Multiple artists on this comic, and, unforutunaltely, it shows. The art is not as consistent as last issue. That doesn't mean it's bad, by any stretch. The team leaned into the body horror aspect of the symbiotes - the pages with Venom slurping up a wounded Toxin to protect him, and Sleeper surprising a guard are particularly good. Colors by D'armata were strong, an made the pages pop. That said, the tounges are getting a bit out of control. You can have a character with a 6 foot, prehinsile tounge, or one with giant, razor-sharp teeth. A character with both is a Darwin Award waiting to happen.
The story got darker. I'm interested to see wh more
While still not the best this series has been, this was an enjoyable issue. Otha's art works really well here and I hope he sticks around for whenever Grønbekk is writing. I do think this story has promise, but I also think it could have some better execution, as much as I did enjoy it. Hopefully things pick up a bit with the next issue.
It's not a bad comic. It's certainly enjoyable, but it's not as good since it feels so disconnected from Meriudus and the time travel shenanigans. Currently Alchemax is the only part that connects this storyline to others and it's not enough for me.
As a standalone issue, it's fine. And it has great art. But as part of a series that already has 25+ issues, it's not as good. I don't blame Torunn for this however, she does what she can with this. And it works.
It's passable. Doesn't really do anything special. Very generic Marvel book.
