With limited dialogue and fast-moving action,Wastelanders: Wolverine #1 is a quick read. It felt that the story had ended just as quickly as it had started. Fans of the Old Man Logan character will get more out of the story than a casual reader. However, the story is intriguing enough that those who have never read Old Man Logan before can use this as their entry point into the character. Read Full Review

Wasterlanders Wolverine #1 was an interesting story, with decent art and colors that make it stand alone as a one-shot. However, it felt like there was more story to tell here, and that maybe the creative team left too much on the table, as opposed to really pushing the envelope. Read Full Review
Wastelanders: Wolverine #1 is a good comic, but it's a hard sell if you're not already interested in this universe. It reads like a lost story that superfans will love, but casual readers won't find a lot in here. The action is good, though, and who among us can't use a bit more snikt-snikt action? Those curious to return to the Wastelands will find plenty to enjoy in this installment. However, it all still feels like rehashing an old project that's already been done several times over. On the positive side, the one-and-done nature of the issue at least makes it easy for a first time reader to pick it up. Read Full Review
Wastelanders: Wolverine #1 is not a necessary read for Old Man Logan fans, and while that's disappointing, the issue also wasn't very good. The paper-thin plot only serves to set up an obvious twist at the end, especially if you are an Old Man Logan fan. The art was good, but that's about all the positives I can give you. It's an entertaining execution of some extremely safe ideas. The antagonist seems inventive at first, but he doesn't hold up to scrutiny. The climactic conflict is decent enough for a popcorn-type comic, though.
The core premise -- badass dad road-trips a kid through rough circumstances (aka a "Lone Wolf and Cub" story) -- is pretty evergreen. Sticking that premise into a post-apocalyptic setting might be a little over-done. It's been a hot minute, but we've seen a *lot* of that in books, movies, and video games.
This is pretty good all around, but I wonder how it fits with... all that comes after it.
