From the illustrator of the blockbuster series of the summer comes the next epic installment in the WEB OF VENOM - a journey from the symbiote's perspective through Eddie's old haunts in San Francisco. It might not like what it finds...
Rated T+
Carnage is a constant threat throughout this entire issue. We know that he's behind all this, but Eddie and the symbiote don't yet. They're uncovering this and get pulled deeper and deeper into the terror with each turn of the page. I was already excited for this eventual match up, but Web of Venom: Venom Unleashed just amplified that a thousand-fold. I cannot wait to see where this goes next. Read Full Review
WEB OF VENOM: VENOM UNLEASHED #1 marks Ryan Stegman's debut as a Venom writer. He really knocks it out of the park, too. It's a truly engaging, art-focused issue. Kyle Hotz' gothic artwork fits Stegman's script perfectly. Read Full Review
A nice entry in the Web of Venom series, which is peripheral one shots centering on other characters in the story. I'd call this one fairly essential to the mainline story as it sets up a lot of stuff that will come up later I'm sure. Read Full Review
While there isn't much in the way of further development and the story is not especially newcomer friendly, the creative team on "Web of Venom: Venom Unleashed" provides readers with a good interlude to bridge the two ongoing story arcs of the primary "Venom" series. Read Full Review
The issue feels like a quick read, and then -BAM!- out of nowhere, there are parasitic worms, Carnage, and a soliloquy on Carnage's new philosophical life view. Read Full Review
If you're a Venom fan, you won't be mad about shelling out the cash for this one. Read Full Review
That’s a bummer. Stegman’s shown he can write before, and most of my problems with the story actually start with issues that Cates wrote, but the events of this issue still don’t do enough to make this story as enjoyable as it could be. Fans of symbiote/tentacle horror will get a few good auuughhhhs out, but I don’t think there’s much here for people to share anyway. My least favorite Web of Venom issue. Only the most die-hard symbiote fans will want to pick this up. Read Full Review
Ryan Stegman does a good job writing Venom, Kyle Holtz does amazing artwork throughout the book. This one shot does has important parts for the bigger story arc of Venom, a must read especially for Venom fans.
This was good, while not being very important to the overall Venom story. We see how Carnage is tracking down former symbiote hosts. By planting brain parasites in the homeless. And Eddie finally finds out about Carnage. That's all the plot important stuff. The rest of this issue is a lot of Dog Venom. And Dog Venom is cute and the art is great, but it is just Dog Venom tracking down Carnage parasites. So this is easily the most skippable Web of Venom issue yet. The first one felt like an added expansion of the Rex storyline. The second one felt extremely important to the overall plotline of the Venom comic. So this is definitely a step down. I liked it. It's just that you're not really getting much out of it besides pretty pictures.
Such a good boy.
This wasn't good. Stegman did a much better job with ASM RYV years ago and nailed the spidey family. Here it was lacking and the horror parts were just too drawn out and lack of words didn't have the intended effect. Sorry but spending 5 dollars on 10 minutes of reading isn't a good investment and then it being less than satisfactory??? Well it sucks.
The art was good by Hotz and Gedeon. Too many inkers and colorists to mention but they all worked well together!
