The wives of Desert Canyon still don't know the secret power they possess. Their husbands continue their campaign of insidious manipulation. Izzy hears scratching in the walls. A cat jumps into a cake. Blood is spilled. And the creepiest sex scene in all of comics.
Ben Blacker is a smart story teller that keeps the reader happy and thoroughly thought provoked. Mirka Andolfo continues to show character emotion in perfect conjunction with the story and interactions between characters. Overall HEX WIVES #2 setes high standards for issues to come. Hex Wives #2 is infuriatingly uncomfortable from cover to cover, and that's quite possibly what makes it one of the best reads this week. Read Full Review
The art is fantastic. There are some great panels that depict Isadora's conflicting emotions and curiosity as well as shots that amplify how creepy and dangerous Aaron is as a character. Read Full Review
The art is great as well. Andolfo does some top notch work here and brings the script home. It's wonderfully drawn and there is so much quiet emotion that is brought to the page. It's really great. This book could be a sleeper. Read Full Review
Disturbing, uncomfortable, and scary in ways that are are more real and relatable than most witch stories. And that is the scariest thing of all. Read Full Review
After the extreme violence of the first issue, we see a softer and more insidious struggle. The oppressors favored tactic of gaslighting is proving to be less effective than first thought. It looks like the wives are about to figure it all out, and when they do, everything will burn. Read Full Review
Overall Hex Wives #2 is an interesting and entertaining look at the witches lives within their current reincarnation cycle. I maintain that Hex Wives has all of right ingredients to be one of Vertigos best titles. The book's second issue isn't as rambunctious as the first but it still packs quite the punch and it still gives us a helluva surprise ending that just reminds me why I'm so interested in this series. Blacker is laying all the right seeds for an extremely interesting series. The moment of our witches awakening into the realization of who they truly are seems to be coming sooner rather than later and I'm absolutely ready for it. Read Full Review
If you weren't thrilled with last month's debut, come back for Hex Wives #2, it seems to quickly find its stride as well a creating some sympathy for Isadora and her friends. This is a really positive turn and signals a lot of potential. The last page reveal and the focus on character throughout indicate this series could be good for a long time. These were elements that made Fables, another Vertigo series, one of the best series of all time. Read Full Review

Overall, I liked this issue. I think it was unsettling, but also a little hokey. I feel like the writer wants us to take this completely seriously, but that's impossible. But, you know, it's not an unentertaining comic.
This was better than the first issue, but I’m still not crazy sold on it.
I enjoyed the first issue much more. I’m less than enthused about continuing with issue number 3.
