At last, Izzy learns the truth about herself and the other women of Desert Canyon, but it will take more than self-awareness to break the spell cast on the neighborhood.
Hex Wives is a really fun series with a lot to saw and honestly, Im here for every single word of it and Im along for the ride. I can't wait to see what the spark is that triggers the girl's memory and in turn sets in motion whatever plan theyre going to hatch to get their husbands outta here. Read Full Review
Even though the reader knows very clearly what they are reading and seeing, there's this incredible dissonance in how it's all presented that makes you think you're losing it (in the best way possible) too. Read Full Review
Ben Blacker's storytelling continues to be absolute genius while the combined effort of artist Mirka Andolfo and colorist Marissa Louise, HEX WIVES #3 looks dark as ever. However, both creatives can turn up the art and color to make HEX WIVES darker, more grotesque and uncomfortable. However, overall, HEX WIVES #3 is a definite level up from HEX WIVES #2. Mirka Andolfo's art is always brilliant and this issue is no exception. There are some truly disturbing and beautiful images in this issue especially the moments with Isadora as well as the shocking end of this issue. I can't wait to see what happens next for these characters. Read Full Review
Hex Wives works as a horror comic because it deals with witches and crazy violence, but it also works on this entirely other level. It creates this visceral reaction where your fists will clench at the injustice performed on these poor women. Yes, they've killed people in their time, but mainly because they were being hunted and had to defend themselves. I cannot wait until they get their revenge, as it's going to be equal parts glorious and bloody. Read Full Review
And let me just say, that's one of the best feelings in the world. Read Full Review
As it is a story which plays with mystery, its difficult to tell exactly where the story is heading. There is some foreshadowing that the witches will regain their full power, but it will be a long journey for them. The challenge for Blacker and company is going to lie in keeping the story interesting and compelling it such a slow pace that also plays on the frustrations of readers. Isadora cant keep forgetting things. There MUST be some acknowledgement that things are not as they appear in the pleasantly drab suburban torpor. If there isnt some quickening of the storys pulse soon, the series could start to flatline. Read Full Review
The haze that the women are in has yet to be breached. What form the coven's revenge will take remains to be seen, but I'm betting on decapitation"and fire. We will just have to wait to see it all collapse, accompanied by numerous gruesome executions, no doubt. It should be epic. Read Full Review
If you liked the first two issues of this series, or at least found them intriguing, this issue sets the course for what comes next. You probably aren't pulling for the husbands, so you'll be glad to know at least one of the wives gets a win in this issue There's a complexity here that should it remain, will make this not just a really good series, but an excellent series. Andolfo's art is fantastic in an issue that has it ups and downs. The story remains interesting, but there are some unsatisfying resolutions. Read Full Review
Hex Wives #3 strikes an odd and unbalanced narrative note in an otherwise intriguing series. Read Full Review
I wasn't as into this issue as much. The ending was especially weird.
This comic continues to just not be as good as I think it could be. The women are a little bit too stupid, and I can’t figure out if they’re doing something specific that keeps them that dumb?
