Oh God, no. Not a man.
After the catastrophic conclusion to last issue, Becky has a personal experience that proves not everything is as it seems in Desert Canyon. However, when she tries to explain what happened to Nadiya and Izzy, both are skeptical. After all, what kind of men keep secrets from their wives?
HEX WIVES #4 showcases the fantastic work of writer Ben Blacker, artist Mirka Andolfo and colorist Marissa Louise. Read Full Review
Full of genuine tension and expert characterization, Hex Wives #4 is stand-out issue with the story only getting better, richer, and more interesting as it plays out. Read Full Review
This issue allows Izzy to make a start at discovering her true nature. It's strange, comparing her introduction in issue #1 as an evil witch to now rooting for her to find herself is an interesting journey for the reader. Amping up the horror element is appreciated, as it seems to foreshadow the direction of the title. There's still the slightest suggestion, that Aaron's heart may not be all in…has he actually fallen for Izzy? Read Full Review
Mirka Andolfo's visual style is the perfect complement to Blacker's story and its tone. There are so many amazing panels and the panic rendered on Aaron's face is delightful. All of the great visuals lead to a final page that opens the floodgates for something visually stunning to happen in the next issue. Read Full Review
I, for one, can't wait to see where this exciting creative team takes us from here. Read Full Review
Hex Wives is steadily building to something big. Each chapter has uncovered more and more atrocities these men have committed in an attempt to control and keep these women down. It's only a matter of time before this all falls apart and the witches rise up to take their well-deserved revenge. This will not be a dish best served cold. It will be served flaming hot and full of pain. Read Full Review
The veil of the twisted reality is tearing and the Architects are beginning to worry, with good reason. After what Becky did to the cat, it is pretty clear what is going to happen when the illusion finally fails. Read Full Review
With Izzy serving as the center of a really interesting ensemble of ersatz witches in the middle of a very oppressive suburban bubble, Hex Wives continues to slink through the intrigue of a very interesting story. There might be some difficulty maintaining the right mix of amnesia and subjugated power in future issues, but at the moment Blacker, Andolfo and Louise have a really unique story running in the fourth issue of an engrossing series. Although the art really pushes this issue, the writing seems to effortlessly weave together the lore of Hex Wives and the ongoing story. Only 4 issues in, there are still questions unanswered, but none which prevent enjoying the comic and understanding the implications of the events that unfold. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress of these witches regaining their powers, and hopefully the reduction of the witch hunters control. Read Full Review
Hex Wives continues its mix of dark humor, sexuality, and straight up magic. The book looks beautiful and is a must read. Read Full Review
That being said, with each issue the women are coming close to remembering their past witchy lives and I can't wait for them too. If you aren't reading this series yet, start! With Iz starting to realize what can trigger their suppressed abilities, I'm sure issue #5 will hold more answers and maybe a confrontation or two. Read Full Review
I'm getting less and less enthused about this book. It's more and more boring the longer it goes.
You can tell this is written by a man.
