9/10 for the EXCELLENT art. -9/10 for the writing.
I don't blame Tom King though. I get it now. He got pulled off his book and he is taking the piss at DC. But he is alienating his fans. We get a recap of things we know. That's all. A recap. And a small twist that changes nothing. Both the solicit and the cover have absolutely nothing to do with the plot.

"City of Bane" chapter eleven! The end is near as one victory leads to another defeat. As Batman reclaims his city from Bane, can he regain his sense of family? then Tom King has been taking a piss at DC since his first issue of Batman. his whole run has been a mess, though not as bad as the corner he's painted himself into at the end here. he had no plan of what he wanted to do with this run, and it shows.

Darkseid24 - Dec 5, 2019

A good writer? Some of his stories are mediocre at best, but his Mister Miracle already was awful, if you actually know& love the New Gods. Same goes for his Batman run. And he doesnt have any reason to be pissed at DC when he is allowed to write every crap he comes up with. That makes no sense.

Average. Despite being a six issue series, not a lot of things happen here and everything feels rushed. Good premise, bad execution. It's worth a reading but don't expect too much.

Tomasi had a good start with Detective Comics but lately either everyone got lazy at DC or something is happening with the editors. I don't want to go into spoilers but the story is boring despite trying to be a nod to the edginess of the 90's. Tomasi has a problem writing women. They always feel stiff and (while I disagree with the overuse of the term) a bit misogynistic? Robotic?

Detective Comics #1016

i think Tomasi's getting burned out by the bi-weekly release schedule. plus i can tell from his new52 Batman & Robin run, that Alfred is one of his favorite characters to write. thanks to Tom King, that's taken away from him now. that has to have an effect on him. notice how we've had a LOT of Alfred in this arc? he's getting in his farewell while he can.

Art is gorgeous. Batman continues to be one of the best drawn books. Which is a shame because while the art carries the story forward, there isn't a lot of story here. We are seconds before the book ends and the (SPOILER) has completely lost it's impact. A lot of continuity errors too. How is Batman ok hours after being shot? Or Catwoman after getting snapped? There is no finesse anymore. Neither more

Yet another filler issue.
The good: The art is excellent in every aspect. This is a beautifully drawn book.
The bad: #82 is pretty much a big fight scene and it STILL fills like a filler issue. Even the "twist" is something everyone expected from #81.
We have three more issues to go and we are presented with a filler issue.
The editor should have combined #80, #81 and #82 into more

The worst part of the book is that it got published. It feels rushed, the twist here is just incomprehensibly stupid and based on tons and tons of pure luck. But the worst part of it is that it clashes with the previous 20 or so issues.
It's hard to decide whether this or Heroes In Crisis is Tom King's lowest point.

Superheroes for Hire - Oct 16, 2019

At this point, I cannot say Tom King is a talented writer. I never read Sheriff of Babylon, and I only read through issue 6 of Vision (I had no background with the character). But Omega Men was the only thing I've read of his that had a coherent story. Batman has been all over the place, but has trended to garbage. And Mister Miracle was garbage disguised as philosophy. There is no plot, no resolution, no continuity, no morality, no purpose. Just B.S. philosophy, a suicide, and an open ending.

Miracle Man is the most over-praised, over-hyped book in the last forty years.
