i'm gonna be honest, i only read the spider-man story. while the dialogue is a little dated, the story is so timeless that it's hard not to feel for peter. genuinely fantastic

not rating because i only read the joker stories and the origin story at the beginning. the joker stories were really fun, and i honestly like the pulp feel these early comics have. it was also nice not to see batman kill anybody lol

basically just a recap for new readers during the zero hour event, but framed in a really interesting way. honestly this would be a good introduction issue to batman if someone wanted it a summary; it's a very brief but well done distillation of his character

wow this was great! also wow i really have grown to love the yellow and black bat symbol lol

i like the first issue more due to how bombastic it was but this is still a very fun issue. the art is stellar and the team-up between two heroes (not batman and superman, another two i wont spoil) was unexpected and a blast to read.

I like it a little bit more, but nothings really gripping me yet. Also one of the events was cool but then upon further thought didn't really add much to the plot

this just feels very padded honestly. like it should have been a three issue mini-series but went to 6 for some reason. will be dropping the series because I'm unfortunately not invested enough to read 3 more issues of this

i didn't realize this when I first read this years ago, but to me dark victory is essentially part 2 of the long Halloween. I know a lot of people will find that obvious, but I mean it in the way that everything wraps up so perfectly in the long Halloween that it feels like dark victory was always planned. honestly, i believe it was. great book

basically agree with everything hex said also detective comics annual #8 (origin of riddler by chuck dixon) so I'm giving it a 9/10 since it's incredibly well done

pretty good, albeit very unnecessary. there are a lot of complaints about sale's artwork but honestly i don't think it's that bad. I loved tim sale's art but he wasn't always the most consistent artist. leaves on a cliffhanger, which is unknown if it will ever be resolved due to sale's untimely passing. still worth a read

i accidentally deleted my original review of the comic but whatever lol. it's a lot better second read, very much like the parallels to the original appearance of the joker. good comic

i didn't read the previous arc so i was a little confused at parts, but that all went away quickly and the ending of this volume is absolutely fantastic. great stuff

i definitely prefer the first volume, but this is obviously the calm before the storm. change in art was a bit jarring but it was easy to adapt to, at least until issue 10. like no offense to the artist but wow that gave me whiplash.

definitely the best volume yet! i wish i knew more about the relationship between matt and elektra but whatever I'll just piece it together. read in one sitting because it's just so engaging

okay look look look look look. this was a lot for me. there are obviously a lot of great moments but there is a lot happening so fast, and so many references to other villains and story-lines that I haven't even seen that i didn't attach with it as much. that's okay though! I'll revisit this run when I'm more familiar with the daredevil canon. I really do like this, and I know I'll love it more upon a second read. I had a lot of fun with this run.

only read the joker story but it's pretty great. really looking forward to watching the animated adaptation of it

clearly a very early draft for what batman would become. i mean it's the first appearance of him but it's a far cry of what he would later become. it's not particularly the best story, but then again this is the 30s and he was still a relatively new character. also it's very jarring to see the villain of the story die and batman saying "a fitting end for his kind." like holy shit lmao not rating this because there are other stories besides batman in this issue but i can't find the others

still very jarring to see batman say "you're getting the electric chair" but whatever lol. happy that killing part of batman was retconned. not rating because i only read the batman part, not the rest

first appearance of man-bat and i really like the spin they took with it. batgirl story was a nice extra but i am not reading the next issue lol

i like the batman story, but i do think it was handled way better in the animated series. will say i like the ending a lot. the elongated man short was charming (and made me like ralph dibny) but it's very funny to me that Henry Kissinger was on top of the list of the most admired couples. very 70s lol

The Snyder, Smith, King, and Tynion stories are good. Rest can be skipped

I've said all i really needed to say about this series honestly. ambitious but unfortunately it's page count is its demise

superman being goofy is such a breath of fresh air, it makes for an incredibly likable character. clark as a freelance reporter is a really good idea, everything seems so grounded in a character perspective. this war between kobe and the government of ghana is quite interesting. art looks pretty good too. all in all great start 8 - great

it's a bit heavy handed with its messaging at times, but it's superman for the modern day and i'm happy it is the way it is

god i hate how this is yellow. it's a very good issue, just obviously a lot of setup. 7 is very good in my book.

Just because this is a 7 doesn't mean it's worth reading. I quite enjoyed this, I just had a problem with the dialogue at the beginning and following some of the story. I probably should have read House of X/Powers of X but it's not that hard to follow. Either way it's very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to issue 2.
