The Bat-Man: First Knight (2024) #1

Mar 5, 2024

For as far as Black Label Batman titles go, this was an excellent first issue to set up a hellish word surrounded by the grim and anomalies. The ending is thrilling, and quite frankly, shocking.

Titans (2023) #5

Nov 21, 2023

Issue five of the series sets up a multitude of possibilities for the future of our heroes; from setting up a prologue to the upcoming Beast World event, to expanding their team by one member, and making room for Swamp Thing to appear in the near future. While also setting up a crossover story, it doesn't ignore the main story that the writer, Tom Taylor, has been building up.

Titans (2023) #7

Jan 18, 2024

Coming to the end of Beast World, it's safe to say the beginning of the end wasn't off to a bad start. The decision to keep the phony "Brother Eternity" in the phantom zone is another way for the writer to leave doors open, which is a hint at the idea that there is so much more in store for the Titans and their adventures.

Titans (2023) #8

Feb 23, 2024

Starting the arc off with a slow but interesting burn, Titans #8 is a pivotal part of the story where we see the bridges of Beast World lead into a much darker story where the Titans will be tested to the extremes.

Tom Taylor continues to kill it with Titans! The arc is developing rapidly with beautiful artwork to compliment it. As a result, each chapter reads like a TV episode.

Titans (2023) #10

Apr 22, 2024

For a fast-paced comic book, it was a quick and necessary read to advance the story. The art stood out the most and readers can rest assured that whatever Tom Taylor and the rest of the creative team have in store is a story that will alter Titan history!

Catwoman (2018) #59

Nov 22, 2023

With Catwoman once again taking off from Gotham, the character returns to an unpredictable wildness that is difficult to pinpoint, making for great stories. Catwoman #59 shows Selina Kyle at her most philosophical, making for some of the best comic book dialogie I've read in a while.

Catwoman (2018) #61

Jan 17, 2024

Between Tini Howard's writing and Stefano Raffaele's art, Catwoman is made out to be an intriguing character without being defined by or a thorn in Batman's side. If there's been any issue as of recent which has shown that, it's number 61.

Catwoman (2018) #62

Feb 20, 2024

"Nine Lives" continues to be an exciting arc with it almost serving as an anthology to some of DC's darkest corners being explored with an exciting character who is creating her own history. Catwoman has been developing into a fun series with a lot to say for readers who can read between the lines.

Titans: Beast World (2023) #1

Nov 29, 2023

While the first issue of the event was big, it manages to set up aftermath which I believe will have the heroes cleaning up for months. Taylor seemed to quickly lose track of everything the his Titans series has been setting up and will have to spend the next issues of the event trying to regain, or shift the focus on again.

Titans: Beast World (2023) #2

Dec 12, 2023

The saga is picking up in the right direction, with each issue leaving on cliffhanger after cliffhanger. How will Batman and Black Adam, and our other heroes revert back to normal? How will Beast Boy come back to Earth?

Titans: Beast World (2023) #3

Dec 26, 2023

Suspense behind what Amanda Waller's big plans are is keeping the story alive and now it's just a matter of time to see if she'll succeed. Will she turn the world's heroes into the monsters that she sees them as or will she finally be dealt with in the end of this event?

Titans: Beast World (2023) #4

Jan 15, 2024

The issue keeps up the beat of the previous books and adds more and more to the story, feeling like a major midpoint in the event. It continues the solution, problem, solution dynamic and the writing is phenomenal enough to keep readers hooked.

Drive Like Hell (2023) #1

Oct 25, 2023

With tensions eased by the end of the first issue with the characters escaping the demon, surviving a car chase and a bullet to the head, issue two is expected to live up to the expectations of the first, or completely surpass it. Rich Douek does a great job at keeping the story unpredictable, with no way of telling how the story will turn out.

Green Arrow (2023) #9

Mar 1, 2024

It's fascinating to see the Green Arrow go head to toe with one of DC's most prominent foes, given that his own villains aren't intimidating. Williamson has a lot to promise in his writing, established in the first issue of the arc, and only time will tell if he pulls through.

As the next issue is going to be the last, there's high expectations for the sixth issue and questions as to whether or not the story will continue or bleed into Tom King's Wonder Woman run. None the less, hats off to Josie Campbell for an amazing story and keeping us on the edge of our seats.

Speed Force (2023) #1

Nov 14, 2023

While the first issue introduces a good story and makes the characters act in a way that's more relatable to a younger audience, it's connection to the Flash weakens it slightly. There's room for improvement when it comes to this series, but it'll potentially be cast aside and more dependent on the main hero than the sidekicks.

Should a nuclear weapon ever be set off, we all think it's going to be the end for humanity. We never bother to think what comes after the supposed end, but Stenbeck does, which ultimately makes for a strong narrative that runs a long as a river in a unique, barbaric world that we can all hope doesn't come into existence during our lifetimes.

There's a variety of exciting books coming out for the Beast World story but Waller Rising isn't one of them. Besides a few developing plot moments that will carry the story forward, the comic isn't as memorable in terms of actions and villains.

Titans: Beast World (2023): Tour: Metropolis #1

Dec 6, 2023

Seeing how the Superfamily managed against mutants caused by Beast Boy's fight with a conqueror helped established more to come under the Beast World banner. It developed more of Dreamer in the moving DC Universe and sets up more storylines, such as Brainiac's impending attack, even long after the present event concludes. Overall, it helps build to what Amanda Waller has in mind.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Special (2023) #1

Oct 31, 2023

With a lot of specials that are related to film, especially now given James Gunn's takeover of DC studios, these issues are pretty forgettable. Aquaman, while a great character, can't seem to catch his big break given the situation, even more so now that it's already announced he won't be playing Aquaman after this film.
