BEAST WORLD FALL OUT! After months of searching, the Emerald Archer has found Amanda Waller at her new hideout. Oliver Queen has his sights set on taking her out and demands answers for why she messed with his family, but what does Ollie do when Amanda Waller offers him the deal of a lifetime?
I'm liking where this story is heading. Read Full Review
I haven't been the most positive about how Waller is being portrayed nowshe seems to be a one-dimensional villain in many portrayals, rather than the ruthless and nuanced figure that we've seen from writers like John Ostrander in the past. Fortunately, while Williamson is still writing her as (and in many ways set her up as) the biggest villain in the DCU right now, he's also able to peel things back a little and show what hides behind the scenes. DC's all roads lead to a collision course with Amanda Waller direction seems risky, but nearly as much as this cliffhanger's proposed direction. Hopefully, Williamson can handle it in a way that the original event spectacularly failed to accomplish. Read Full Review
Williamson and the creative team have crafted a tale that fires on all cylinders, delivering pulse-pounding action, rich character development, and a healthy dose of intrigue. Read Full Review
Izaakse delivers some impressive and beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The visual style is perfect for the kind of action in the story and I like the character designs a lot, especially Diggle. Read Full Review
Another solid issue from Williamson and Izaakse, setting up what promises to be a memorable story line. Read Full Review
Overall, Green Arrow #9 is a must-read for fans of the Emerald Archer and anyone who appreciates expertly crafted storytelling and breathtaking artwork. With its thrilling action, complex characters, and intriguing plot twists, this issue is sure to leave readers hungry for more. Im not quite sold on the cliffhanger nor do I buy Amanda Wallers angle yet. However, we will see how this story progresses given a few more issues. Fans, Joshua Williamson continues to prove why he is one of the premier writers at DC, delivering another solid installment in the ongoing saga of Green Arrow. Read Full Review
Green Arrow #9 maximizes the fallout of Titans: Beast World to further the greater narrative involving Amanda Waller. How Oliver Queen and Connor Hawke factor into these great plans for the DC Universe makes Green Arrow an important title to follow. That importance carries this title to be one DC Comics fans should have on their pull list. Read Full Review
Green Arrow #9 is a scintillating issue putting Oliver Queen at the centre of events across the DC Universe. Read Full Review
It's fascinating to see the Green Arrow go head to toe with one of DC's most prominent foes, given that his own villains aren't intimidating. Williamson has a lot to promise in his writing, established in the first issue of the arc, and only time will tell if he pulls through. Read Full Review
Though there is some dread for what is to come from an out-of-story perspective, the approach brought here for a story arc start, as well as for a "fall out from a previous event, works well enough. Read Full Review
Green Arrow #9 is a pretty solid issue that lays the foundation for this Sumer's Absolute Power event, but a heartbreaking creative decision on the last page casts the entire strategy in doubt. Nobody in their right mind loves Heroes In Crisis, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone interested in going back. Read Full Review
Gotta say, I did NOT expect that at the end. This series is one of Josh Williamsons best. He has a good feel for Ollie's core cast of characters.
A pretty solid issue here that gained more interest from me towards the end. I like the aspect of Ollie feeling disconnected from everyone else, and it’s also nice to see Izaakse back on interiors.
Nice to see GA at the center of Big Happenings in the DCU as he squares off against Waller. I’m not crazy about his upcoming mission, which ties in to one of my most-hated comics stories in DC history. The art was sensational, though I do miss Hester’s fill-ins.
great issue and a good plot twist
This is a decent issue. I find it interesting that that functionally Green Arrow is the series that ties all the Dawn of DC story together. He somehow is getting the raw end of the deal from all the other heroes as he tries to put his family together. With all that being said though it feels like this takes a bit of agency out of his character when he is always responding to the events around him. Kind of bothers me.
Amanda Waller is overused. It is getting a bit cumbersome. I hope that big Absolute Power event later this year knocks her out as she is way overexposed and annoying at this point.
Art is good.
I still like this series but feels like drew me in on this issue. Also bringing back Sanctuary is a more
I haven't been a fan of this book since it started. I just don't think Williamson gets Green Arrow. He's a street-level crime fighter. He started it with him hiding in a multi-verse. Now he's chasing Arsenal. Waller and Peacemaker simply walked into the Hall of Justice without a court order and started stealing things. WTF. Plus Batman hasn't implemented any security measures? Yeah, right. Then he links the book to one of the most hated series in all of comic history - Heroes in Crisis. If there wasn't just a few issues left, I would drop it -- again.
