The book everyone's talking about! When a weirdo stalks and threatens Sunstar's girlfriend, Jesus tries to prevent the superhero from succumbing to rage, but God has other plans! Plus AHOY's customary offerings of illustrated short prose fiction.
Second Coming is a must read and will be yet another strong book coming from Ahoy. Pace and Russell are clearly working on a labor of love here. While the premise may seem offensive, it is actually a very well thought out piece on Christian teachings. Read Full Review

The first issue of Second Coming debuted after months of controversy, making its arrival seem more portentous than perhaps it needed to be. This second issue, though, proves that the series has legs. It will be interesting to see how Sunstar and his heavenly roommate continue to affect each other as the series continues. Read Full Review
With serious themes and a humorous storyline, Second Coming’s second issue is the whole package. Both the writing and artwork are top notch and has me convinced that we’ll be talking about this series for a long time. Read Full Review
This book couldve suffered from something many controversial comics suffer from after a debut: hype for the first issue wears off and exposes the book as subpar. Second Coming #2, however, is a sophomore issue that maintains a unique story while also creating new unique directions. Read Full Review
If you're in the mood to laugh, think critically, and ponder Christianity, this series is for you. If you're not sure if you should give it a look, this reviewer highly recommends giving the issue and this series a chance. Readers just jumping in now can easily catch up, hop on board, and follow along with ease. Bring your preconceived notions of the series, sit down with a Kenny Rogers Roaster, and give this issue a chance. As the support group leader said, "Pain is a caravan. Unload those camels." It's time to unload your camels and give this issue a shot. Afterward, let me know what you think. Read Full Review

Beyond a few pages displaying a Heaven that is both wondrous and mundanely amusing, Second Coming remains a series that's far more interesting to dissect than read. Read Full Review
In a podcast on Word Balloon, Mark Russel said he grew up reading a lot of MAD and it really shows here. I am an Athiest who grew up in a very Christian area, including my parents, so these jokes really hit home.
The last issue was a bit underwhelming with all the hype but this issue really made up for it. The jokes were funny and were a mix of obvious and some humor tucked away. The dichotomy between god and Jesus was also really interesting and makes me excited to see if god will try and put a stop to the whole living arrangement.
What a great book :D
This captures some of the inherent problems with Superman, except I like Sunstar better because he is more human and makes mistakes. Very serious mistakes. The backup prose story is surprisingly apt and haunting as well, nice addition.
I know that depending on your stance on religion that the title of this blog post may be offensive. I don't mean to be controversial. The book just isn't doing it for me. I'm a huge Mark Russell fan but I think that this is his worst work since I discovered him in Snagglepuss.
Things may pick up. Expectations may be subverted but I'm honestly not expecting much. I'm bouncing back between Second coming and Scout Comics, Crucified. Crucified is infinitely more interesting and I suggest you check it out.
I imagine that in certain circles Second Coming will be a huge hit but for me, the book comes off as cynical and too self-aware. The characters seem to be just going through the motions and subsequently, reading the com more
