With Merlin-and the magic he wields-back at his side, King Arthur is stronger than ever. Brigette and Duncan continue to fight against Camelot's dark forces, but when Merlin calls to life another story entirely, will the two heroes save the day? Or will they find themselves becoming the villains they're sworn to defeat.
Writer Kieron Gillen continues to intertwine the old myths and stories with a sarcastic and meta-awareness that gives the series a welcome edge. Read Full Review

Expect the unexpected with this book. That is what I have come to accept by the conclusion of Once & Future #9. This is a book which thrives on the idea that the only way to keep your head is to know the story, because Duncan and Brigette are in for a rude awakening if they don't pick up on that soon. Would trying to expand this story work? Would it dilute the awesomeness? Cheapen the narrative? Oh, me of little faith. This second arc has only added to the fantastic premise, throwing exciting new wrinkles into the story of the reluctant monster hunter and his bad-ass gran. Blending humour, action and high-stakes fantasy into a thoroughly enjoyable read, this is a series that comes highly recommended. Read Full Review
Gets an extra 0.5 for the ending. Wow. At first, I did not like the pace and some of the writing in this book. But now Gillen is ramping up the tempo and throwing his own spin jumbling different English legends in the past recent issues, and its great. First we got Beowulf, then we got Merlyn, and now we have another surprise. Loving where this book is going.
