Once & Future is the action-horror epic we need. It has its foundation in old folklore, then raises the stakes with a personal story of family that is nothing short of riveting. This is tense, exciting, and downright terrifying. In short: This is a great comic. Read Full Review
Once And Future #10 is another standout issue of this remarkable series. Gillen sets the perfect tone, building tension in two ways- underlining Duncan's panic about getting to the nursing home on time and the events therein. There's some great humor to cut the tension just enough to make the whole thing more palatable. Mora and Bonvillain's art is perfect, as usual. Once And Future #10 is a white knuckle ride all the way through. Read Full Review
Dan Mora delivers some beautifully detailed panels throughout this issue and the chase between Grendel and Gran is visually stunning. Mora does an excellent job of taking the tone and the humor of the story and elevating them with the art and there is an awesome visual gag in here that made me laugh out loud. Read Full Review
Overall, this was a very intense issue which knocks you at the edge of your seat. Knowing that Gran or Duncan might make it out of this doesn't change the fear in the fact that there is a monster on the rampage which seems almost unstoppable now that they've killed the one person who could stop it. The issue comes to a close with the creature making short work of local police (yeah, pretty useless as Bridgette suggested, although their deaths do buy a little time) and Bridgette discovering just how big a hole she's dug in dispatching the story's hero and leaving no one left to kill the beast. Will Duncan be up to the challenge? Read Full Review
The issue speeds to a cliffhanger close, setting up nicely for some confrontation in the next issue, where our characters will hopefully be once step closer to defeating a foe from classic literature, confronting Duncan's m0ther, and finding out what Merlin is up to and what strings he pulls from behind the curtain. ONCE & FUTURE picked up really well after a rather slow #9. That HOT FUZZ cameo was a nice idea.
Anything with a Hot Fuzz reference and cameo deserves top marks. This book continues to be among the best ongoings in comics.
PEOPLE, please continue supporting this series. This series is one of the best indie comics out there. It has an amazing premise, and it's supplemented with some of the best looking art in any comic book.
A fun, cool comic. I love the dialog and the action. Good stuff.
