"Full Circle" part two! With the Birds of Prey fractured by last issue's events, the team must set aside their feelings of mistrust and work together to find the Calculator. Huntress wrestles with her feelings when she's called to testify on behalf of her mother at a parole hearing, but is Helena ready to forgive her after everything they've been through? And while Black Canary struggles with her powers and Batgirl battles her guilt over keeping secrets from her teammates, the Calculator's robotic assassin, Burnrate, makes an unwelcome return!
The writers of BATGIRL AND THE BIRDS OF PREY #20 bring a level of complexity to these heroines. The art by Roge Antonio is really dynamic and captures both the vigilante and human sides of the Birds of Prey. Without a doubt, an awesome read! Read Full Review
Itsonly recently that Ive begun reading Birdsof Prey in earnest. Id reviewed a handful of issues, but a more thoroughperusal has me thinking its one of DC Comics under-appreciated titles. Thethree team members bring passion, intellect and charm to the dynamics, makingup for one anothers shortcomings. I look forward to enjoying more. Read Full Review
The stakes are getting raised in this story as things begin to get personal for Helena. Solid plotting and art combine to make a terrific book that deserves better attention than it is getting. Read Full Review
With the team back on the same page, the Birds are poised for the end run of this series as Batgirl and the Birds of Prey sadly faces cancellation in the next few months. The set up seems that it will leave the team intact and closer than ever, ready for another outing, hopefully in a short time. Read Full Review
Julie and Shawna Benson are building a really incredible story to end this title on (I still haven't accepted that this title is ending and you can't make me) and I can't wait to see what happens next in Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #21! Read Full Review
The artwork for this series has been great so far, and this issue is no exception. I love the raw emotions you can see in this issue " though obviously there was more focus on Helena and her reactions than anything else. Read Full Review
While the issue isn't perfect, it makes circumstances interesting enough and leaves enough open possibilities to keep fans captivated. Read Full Review
The girls' mission to find out who is using Oracle's name is getting them closer with each move made. These strong women are not backing down for any reason. Definitely looking forward to reading more into the Birds of Prey's journey moving forward. Read Full Review
Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #20 doesn't make me wish DC would rescind this series's cancellation, but it is a significant step up in quality from the previous issue. Huntress has a relatable story, and a good narrative voice; Antonio choreographs an excellent motorcycle fight sequence; and there's some subtle moral commentary that I really appreciate. Don't buy this if you aren't already invested in the series; but, if youare, you're in for one of the better issues thatBatgirl and the Birds of Prey has produced. Read Full Review
The Benson sisters' scripts are as strong as ever. Unfortunately, the erratic artwork of Roge Antonio that drove away many readers is still here as well. Read Full Review
While this story still has some fun merits, a lot of what we got here felt a bit odd and forced to get us to where this story needs to be and that's a shame for how strong I felt the previous issue was and for what I was hoping we were going to get going forward. With that, the art in this issue is great, I just wish that the Benson's would have had more time to tell what could be a really cool story in a way that felt natural. Read Full Review
While Birds of Prey has a long and excellent history of stories, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey never got off the ground, and this issue sums up the reasons why. Read Full Review
Decent connective tissue between two, most likely more relevant, chapters of the story, closing up some arcs, and opening new ones. It's nice to see story leading somewhere, to something bigger, utilizing long forgotten characters to set up foundation for what's to come.
I've enjoyed this issue for what it was, but naturally, it was not perfect, outstanding and stunninng.
