This issue is a bite of fun rather than a full dessert, but it is a smart way to draw in new readers to the fold. It is not quite as effective a way to draw in classic readers to the Fortnite universe. As enjoyable as it is as a Batman story, it does not take even one panel to introduce us to a Fortnite character or their perspective. Though this highly-anticipated comic about the Caped Crusader is good, it's not the best. Hopefully, we will have more questions answered and the story built up. With downloadable content included and how the story is presented, it's clear this is to get the video game players to check out comics and not comic readers to check out the game. There's a good chance that the story comes together but as presented, there's not enough for comic readers to really get sucked into the story. For Fortnite players, they might be more into it. The biggest obstacle with the miniseries is the quickly eroding sense of the novelty of Batman fighting Fortnite characters. Gage will need to introduce a stronger purpose for this series for it to truly make it worth reading beyond this debut chapter. Read Full Review

Maybe this series will improve. Batman's fighting Snake Eyes next issue, so that's cool I guess " if you watched G.I. Joe in the 80s, before I and the vast majority of the people actually playing Fortnite were born. Who is this for, though? I do not see the appeal of this for either Batman or Fortnite fans. Just having Batman in things isn't enough to make Batcomic fans like or buy it. Maybe the dopamine hit of seeing your favorite Fortnite characters will be enough for some of the Fortnite crowd? I don't know what they're trying to do here, but the idea is very tired. And I think that is the problem of DC the worn out ideas, there is a desperation to sell high, the lack of creativity is being terrible in most of its numbers and this was not the exception.
