"RISE OF THE DEMON" part four! Can an older, physically weakened Bruce Wayne come out of retirement to rescue Batman? As Terry battles a renewed and more deadly Ra's al Ghul in Tibet, only Bruce knows that Terry is facing two life-threatening menaces-Ra's and the experimental Batman suit that he's now wearing. It's a race against time and a battle against impossible odds.

It's never easy to come to terms with aging and death, and as a fan, it's hard to see Bruce Wayne being old -and not Batman. It was a concept that took time for me to come to terms with when the show first aired and I had to learn to like Terry and Batman Beyond #9 once again drives the point home. It was also interesting to see two characters I like, Terry and Damian, battle because if you asked me to pick who should be Batman, I'm not sure how I would answer. But I am enjoying where the story takes both characters. Read Full Review

Comic Book Bin - Philip Schweier Jun 28, 2017

That's what I like about the future of the DC Universe. It's not so beholden to the NOW of the DCU, and has the freedom to become its own entity, free from the constraints of current continuity. Batman Beyond is one of the few bright spots in DC's current roster of titles. Read Full Review

With Bruce arriving on the scene to witness his sons attempting to kill each other as the climax to the issue, the desire to keep reading is intense. This book is all action, but without sacrificing the important character beats. Dan Jurgens' slow reveals of the new history between today's Batman and the Batman of the future, married to the superb visuals of Bernard Chang and Marcelo Maiolo make every issue a very satisfying read. "Rise Of The Demon," PartFour is no exception. Read Full Review

Tropes aside, Batman Beyond #9 was a fun issue that saw the return of one of my favorite Robins. Great action scenes and beautiful art were the highlight, but by the end of the issue I was totally immersed into the story. Read Full Review

In the strongest issue of the arc so far, Terry and Damian battle it out. The fight has a certain symbolic significance and I'm glad Jurgens recognises it, as he and Chang craft quite the showdown. I'm really excited to see where the story goes from here, and I'm curious to see what other story Jurgens and Chang will tackle next. Read Full Review

It's nice to see the handing over of the torch… more so when Bruce is still looking out for his replacement. It's all very well to have the gadgets, but the wisdom of years of fighting some of the worst criminals around means Bruce is still a few steps ahead of his closest challenger… but at his age is he able to get to Terry fast enough to help him win the battle… or will he be too late? If you like action and suspense, then you will surely like this book. I personally found out that it is in continuity with the DCU. This was pretty insane to me, but at the same time amazing to see what the future holds. Damien is full on evil, but will things turn around now that Bruce is back in the picture? Vibrant art and fast paced dialogue makes this a fun and breezy read. Read Full Review

An acceptable entry to the series, theres nothing here I hated yet not enough to love. Still, what's here worked well enough for me. I like Jurgens' writing and Chang and Maiolo's Art makes this look better than it should, especially given the lack of unique locations. It does what it does and does it well enough, and that's fine. Not every comic needs to strive to be the Best Comic Book Ever; some just need to tell their story. Batman Beyond #9 tells its story, and that's enough. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Eric Shea Jun 28, 2017

This is a bit of a lackluster issue when everything is said and done because it barely moves the story forward and doesn't show us much in the way of backstory, which we desperately need since this is so far in the future from every other DC title.  The art is great though and the cliffhanger is strong, but this arc certainly hit the brakes on the story with this issue.
