Teen Titans #20

Batman has no idea what he's doing. Superman? Not a clue. Wonder Woman? Whatever. Damian Wayne is Robin, and he's done with the bleeding-heart approach favored by the heroes of the senior circuit. New plan of action: recruit a new Teen Titans. Kid Flash, Red Arrow and newbies Roundhouse, D'jinn and...wait, Lobo has a daughter? That'll end well. And...

Talia somehow mixed both Bruce and Slade's DNA together, therefore Deathstroke and Batman would technically be biologically his fathers. This would preserve Damian and Bruce's relationship while creating a new one with Deathstroke. It would also explain why both Batman and Deathstroke tested positive in Damian's DNA test, even though Bruce thinks his was faked. I think that th more

Absolute trash. We have all these preludes and specials for something that doesn't happen. This was a marketing stunt, plain and simple. Tom King says his arc is 100 issues. So what? That gives you a free pass not to be criticized? I was never a fan of King's run, but was actually thinking this could be somewhat good, to see Batman in a different light than ever before. But no. The whole thing is messed up. King has really good concepts, but the execution is just horrible. No substance! He just builds an arc around a wow moment. And this series dosen't humanize Batman at all. He let Alfred tell his son(s) that he was getting married!

myconius - Jun 7, 2018

i agree. it's all just lazy set-up for a cheap shock moment. no, this Batman definitely does not feel humanized. the way he let Joker just kill the last hostage then still mindlessly went to pray with Joker. he feels more like a Zombie or a Robot.

This is clearly a very divisive run. Everyone should keep their head about it. Some people like Tom King's style (me) and others don't. I do understand some of the complaints about his characterization of Batman, but I personally enjoy King's writing enough to ignore it. It is a different Batman, but that is okay imo.

i found the funniest part of this comic not in any of the Joker’s jokes. no. not at all. what made me laugh was how spectacularly Batman failed at everything he did in this issue. Joker kills everyone right in from of Batman, and Batman still wants to kneel down and pray with Joker, but gets blown up. that was hilarious! :D
