Filler. More filler from King. At this point the entire 62 issue run has more filler than actual relevant content, and I wish that was a joke.
And also, 2 more public domain stories were just used as substitutes for this issue's lack of any story - one about three little pigs, and the other being the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea. Just put the series out of its misery, because there's 38 issu more

I didn't find it funny either. I mean, it was clearly poorly written, after all who normally calls their mom by her name? The joke indeed may have been a bit funny at first, but after few days it got old. But as with anything normies touch, it has become painfully overused.

Darkseid24 - Jan 17, 2019

Some people do indeed, but it made sense for calling her Martha, since how else would Batman know if he saved the right woman? Besides it was to show, that Superman is human.

This is gross. Let's just get it out of the way. The dialogue is still as bad as ever. It's like the writer has a dart board with, maybe, 3 different dialogue trees. There's the "character A says X, character B says !X" one, there's the "character makes innocuous statements, but break down, letting the audience know that this is *deep*" and there's the "character goes off on an unrelated tangent b more

He makes a meta reference to readers' opinion on his stilted script with self-perceived humor 'cause he thinks that'll deflect legitimate criticism and warrant his repetition ad nauseam.

--Let's see if a later issue will include a line similar to the one above to fill the space that should be used to tell a good story, and thus create an oh-so-clever meta-ception.

For the most part I liked Snyder’s Batman. I’m not as big a fan of his work sense then but I likes his Batman. I can not stand King’s Batman since it isn’t recognizable as the actual character. Add to that shitty storytelling and dialogue and there is nothing redeeming about this run.

myconius - Sep 7, 2018

i really loved the very first issue on the Snyder/Capullo Batman. i think it lost it’s charm for me upon re-reads. so much of the exposition is just painful for me to get through. Capullo’s art is amazing though! Tom King’s Batman seems like a practical joke to me. the dialog sounds like malfunctioning robots trying to communicate with each other. and King’s Batman is so incompetent. if Batman wasn’t my favorite character i wouldn’t even bother sating my morbid curiosity.

I'm very sad to report this, but it's a filler issue. Filler-filler, because King made few outstanding non-filler-fillers in the past - just to mention the Rooftops micro arc, and murder mystery involving Swamp Thing. This week, however, there's nothing to keep us engaged and interested, especially after rather underwhelming 12 Angry Men inspired arc.
