It's a short mystery Crisis story... in league with something like Identity Crisis, but much better so far. This story has far more personality, while balancing its dramatic themes well and clearly with imposing force. But, if you hate the characterizations I guess there would be no saving this one for you. I just think writers should have a chance to work with characters that are more malleable, and not bound by other interpretations in such a rigid way.

Darkseid24 - Jan 3, 2019

In my opinion Identity Crisis is a far better story than HiC. Identity Crisis qquestioned the heroes methods, but there is no real plot in HiC yet apart from deaths for shock value.

THE GOOD:

-I'm loving Clay Mann's art, but I almost think Lee Weeks captured the emotion necessary for the story better, y'know?

-I thought the beginning with Tempest was a truly sad and also powerful moment that I really enjoyed, not to mention the best title credits we've gotten yet.

-I actually thought that Batgirl's therapy session was a very powerful callback more

This issue was beyond stupid. Batman is the world's worst detective and now just goes around beating on people. So Alfred is watching Penguin in a cage, that is big enough for him to lean out but for some reason has to open the door and hand feed him. W more

Psh, ofcourse the Penguin loves a Penguin, that was a no brainer, Penguins are also very family oriented. Lastly you dont even know why Bruce's father is really there, but you just assume its silly... it could be something as simple as Psyco Pirate helping control him, Its probably something else, but that's just one example. Who knows what's going on with that yet. Your fastidious outlook is overwhelmingly pessimistic.

To those that are disappointed that Batman's acting 'out of character,' I'm here to tell you that's what often happens when someone is brutally traumatized, particularly when it happens over and over. Of course Batman isn't himself. That's the point.

Great issue.

The story is progressing in an interesting way, art is great, and overall i'm feeling that everything we read so far is starting to pay off. I also got to add that even though we know Bane is controlling arkham he played a broken version of himself pretty good. Penguin was also great in this as we get to see his human side.

This issue was thrilling to me. So excited to see how this opus of a run turns out.

There are so many threads seeded from all points during the run, including its very slow start, and they all seem to be starting to converge with one another. This is my favorite take on Penguin since I don't know when--probably ever. I've always appreciated the Penguin but I've rarely been moved by him more
