Brainwashing is the only possible answer, I posit that if this was written by Bendis, the rating would be under 5. There's "liberties" and there's butchering of a character. This is the latter.
I’d disagree. Having been through the horrors of war, tortured by the enemy, having them capture his daughter and being given the choice “Give us Earth or your daughter is dead” it doesn’t seem like a butchering. But agree to disagree here I guess.
